Publisher's Summary

1945. The vote in the House of Lords as to who should inherit the Barrington family fortune has ended in a tie. The Lord Chancellor’s deciding vote will cast a long shadow on the lives of Harry Clifton and Giles Barrington. Harry returns to America to promote his latest novel, while his beloved Emma goes in search of the little girl who was found abandoned in her father’s office on the night he was killed. When the General Election is called, Giles Barrington has to defend his seat in the House of Commons and is horrified to discover who the Conservatives select to stand against him. But it is Sebastian Clifton, Harry and Emma’s son, who ultimately influences his uncle’s fate.

In 1957, Sebastian wins a scholarship to Cambridge, and a new generation of the Clifton family march onto the page. After Sebastian is expelled from school, he unwittingly becomes caught up in an international art fraud involving a Rodin statue that is worth far more than the sum it raises at auction. Does he become a millionaire? Does he go to Cambridge? Is his life in danger? Best Kept Secret will answer all these questions, but once again, pose so many more.

This is the third in the series. Absolutely addictive. Each book ends with a cliffhanger which leaves you rushing for the next in the series.

    "Another good story"

I dont think this is as strong as the second and I don't really like the cliffhanger ending it seems a little staged.

It however is a fantastic book.

    "Yet another gripping listen"

Having never read/listened to a book by Jeffrey Archer I picked up the 1st one and in a short time finished and gripped by it moved onto the second which was not quite as captivating as the first. So with a small concern I started on the third book in the series and was yet again gripped and transported back into the Clifton family. I enjoyed every second listing to how the characters of Giles, Harry and Emma have developed into adults and the next generation of the family is introduced as more life issues and complications are faced and delt with by the family. Can't wait to get my next credit so that I can begin on the 4th offering ....

    "It's like a soap opera"

This book covers 1945-1959 in the lives of the Cliftons and the Barringtons. I found it entertaining and wanted to know what would happen next. It's like a soap opera, with well loved characters, intriguing secrets and a crucial cliffhanger.

    "The saga continues"

Firstly bit disappointed that Emilia fox was not one of the narrators, Mr Jennings was very good but needed it needed her narration too. Was she not paid enough? as I see she is not narrating any of the subsequent books.

To me this book was a little flat. Mr Archer seems to have sat on his laurels with this one but I am sure it will be full steam ahead with book 4, if the reviews are to be believed.
