Disappointing half book was a recap of Kain & Abel

I eagerly purchased this sequel to Kain and Abel. BUT the first 23 chapters (over half the book) was devoted to a condensed version of Kain and Abel, before it got onto the story of the prodigal daughter. So this story could've been told in the 6 hours that were left of the audio book.

Sounds like Siri is reading it, good story though

I enjoyed the book but the narrator sounds like a robot or the talking clock. ruined it a bit or me

OK, but not Kane and Abel

The follow up to Kane and Abel spends the first half of the book recapping that story through the eyes of Florentina, Abel's daughter and the heroine of this tale. Ultimately for me, that was more interesting than what followed. Fairly pedestrian in pace, unusually for Archer, and just not that much fun... Narration also very robotic. Overall, very average...

A Tale of Two Halves

Enjoyable book. Having just finished Kane and Abel, I found the first half of The Prodigal Daughter was a recap of Kane and Abel. However second half of the book was brilliant

Narration like a robot!

So disappointed, loved Kane and Abel then immediately purchased this next chapter in the saga, is it just me or is the narrator’s style like a robot reading? Tried to get into it several times but have now purchased book instead. Voice, tone and performance pretty dreadful I’m afraid.

The prodigal daughter

Was surprised how little new material was in this sequel !! Great long repeats of details word for word from Kane and Abel ! a brief reference for people who had not read the first book would have been sufficient. I felt cheated and that the author had been lazy and unimaginative. The plot was so predictable and churned out like a chore which had to be achieved and had not been inspired by a wish to do the best by his readers..

Boring

First 25 chapters are like reading Kane and Able over again i nearly gave up. Archers knowledge of American politics is amazing though. I was disappointed this time.

Continues the story

Great storytelling by Mr Archer continues the saga on from Kane & Abel. Well crafted and a great listen thank you!
I’m afraid that Lorelei King’s voice was difficult to listen to, she sounded like Siri most of the time!

A Jeffrey Archer Classic

This next chapter in the Kane and Abel chronicle does not disappoint. I read this book over 20 years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed it then and that sentiment has not altered in listening to its Audible rendition. Jeffrey Archer is the master story teller. In my opinion one of the best. Go on listen and see that I am not wrong.
