With second chances come new challenges....

Peter Busch-McGinley is living his best life in Fertile Valley. He's making up for lost time with his daughter, bringing his grandpa's farm back to its former glory, and keeping up with his new duties as the Harvest Goddess' champion.

Yet a new darkness lurks in the woods. Mysterious shadows that feed on people's emotions, all working for an ominous creature that lives deep beneath the mine. He'll have to rely on help from an unlikely source to set things back on track again.

Can Pete find a way to work with the Queen of the Mines to save Fertile Valley? Or will the darkness claim them both?

not an awful book 2, I like the characters and the character progression. he is way to forgiving for me in some situations I think. but all in all I like it.

so for so good

I love the back story and lore buiklding in the first two books and the telling of it is very good. Excellent, even though not without flaws but they are minor for the most part. I listened to part 1 first then read the book after and I guess my only complaint would be the southern twang tends to muddle come of the female voices. Queenie becomes Darlene very easily. Missy and Cindy feel only a yawn apart, as well. But like I said, it is minor and when I read it, I obviously don't have the same issues, which is th eonly reason I bring it up. If I could change anything, it would be the downshifting into sexual encounters that I experience, almost like there is not much sexual flirtation between sexual interludes the way I interact with my wife. We flirt or drop innuendos even while the kids are near. I pinch, she smacks my butt, we don't just jump right into sex and these two books seem to fall into that pattern. We tease each other and when the kids are at school or asleep, we do our thing. None of this ruins any of the book. I would love it if they were more flirty, but romance is there for most of the scenarios so at least they aren't coldly fornicating for sake of the story/plot. It has to be a rough balance for a harem book to keep it sexy, keep it family, and also keep it dramatic. I'm still in for this storyline! The new threat isn't clear and the cast is growing!! I would totally recommend!

another great book about an interesting magical valley

everyone wants to be equal but whenever it's a dire time or need, no one can be pointed too, but it's always the man for some reason but even then the women AND men complain that they didn't get their 2 cents in. on every story I read or listen to, I don't know who is the head of the family..... ever

hate the whole "partners" thing
