Publisher's Summary

Helen Decatur spent a lifetime setting goals - getting through college and law school, opening her own practice, becoming financially secure and establishing herself as one of the most highly respected matrimonial attorneys in the state of South Carolina. Achieving those goals was a breeze compared to the one she’s faced with now.

The most driven - and cynical - of the Sweet Magnolias, Helen is 42, single, and suddenly ready for the family she’s put on the back burner for all these years. Unfortunately, having a child at her age comes with lots of complications, not the least of which is the absence of a serious relationship in her life.

But Helen's not the type of woman to wait around for fate to step in. Taking charge of her own destiny puts her at odds with her two best friends, sets sparks flying with a man who doesn't want a family, and leads her straight into the most unexpected complication of all...love.

Reading was not the greatest. Sometimes hard to follow sentences and who was speaking.

Story was great but reader could have been better. Was not a smooth read. Thanks

Good story that I could relate to!

I loved this story line, especially Karen's tale. The narrator was better this time, but still not my favorite.

GOOD STORY BUT...

This is a good series BUT...one of my pet peeves is that with each new release, there's a new narrator. Changing of voices makes it hard to get to know the characters. Just not right. It doesn't matter if all the narrators are good...new voices change the characters IMO.

A wonderful story!

This is one I have reread over and over again over the years. It was fun, emotional, deep and just plain amazing!! I highly recommend you picking up this beautiful yet poignant story about love, life, regrets and the importance of finding the people you call home. Elizabeth Cottle does a wonderful job narrating and bringing the characters to life.

Great summer read!

Third book of the series in 3 weeks! great heartwarming story with added spin of criminal theme. love the characters and overall by now I feel like I live in Serenity and am a part of the Sweet Magnolias circle.
Curious what the next parts will bring.

Sorry to say, worst so far

I started reading the Sweet Magnolias series this year after seeing it had been picked up by Netflix. I figured that meant it must be a good story. The story was compelling enough to get me to the third book, even though the writing wasn’t great from the beginning. Now, in the third book, the patriarchy masquerading as “traditional” and the ultimate desires of all the female characters is sickening. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “eff the patriarchy” in your life, do yourself a favor and avoid this book in particular and the series altogether.
