Even Parley became caught up in the dissension and was for a time estranged to Joseph Smith. In an act of renewal, Parley went to New York to preach the gospel and purify himself. With few doors open to him, Parley focused himself on writing, producing A Voice of Warning.

Story
Amazing prophecies were given to the Hopi Indians as well as the Mahayan of China, the Tibetans, Kikuyu of Africa, the Mayans, Aztecs and Incas of South America, and great number of North American Indian tribes. Many of these prophecies came from a "Great White Brother" who visited most of these peoples, taught them of peace, and prophesied what would occur to them until he returned in the "last days" to help build a society of complete peace in this land.

Publisher's Summary
"Go ye out from Babylon; gather ye out from among the nations." (Doctrine and Covenants 133:7)
In the near future, the world as we know it will suddenly change. Natural disasters will lead to economic difficulties, leaving the United States on the edge of collapse. During this time of strife, members of the LDS Church will be invited by their leaders to survive the civil unrest by gathering to holy refuges.
In the midst of the turmoil, recently returned missionary Nathan Foster joins a secret team of men who help the Saints escape modern society's implosion. Nathan is expected to devote all of his time and energy to this cause, but he faces a major personal obstacle in doing so - Marie Shaw.
Nathan has admired Marie since their high school days, and now she's showing genuine interest in him as well. However, more national trouble erupts including acts of bioterrorism on US soil that not only threatens to tear apart their relationship, but puts their lives in deep peril.
Audiences who enjoyed the author's best-selling Standing in Holy Places novels will find a new set of futuristic twists and turns in the Times of Turmoil series.

Great Story but reader is too young
I enjoyed the story very much. However, the reader sounds like he’s around 15 years old and didn’t have much inflection. He’s pretty monotone and it is quite annoying to listen to. He stumbles over words at times. It’s also recorded in a non-professional sound booth and sounds hollow and you hear the stoping/starting of the recording with each chapter. I understand the reader is the author’s son, and though that is sweet, I would not have him read the next books. I would rather buy the hard copy and read them myself.

good story, but terrible narration!
it was a good story premise overall, but I could barely stand listening to the narration. I know it is Chad's son but he really should have gone with a more professional narration it would have made a world of difference.

Shows how Mormonism is cult-like
The story was okay but it was painful at times to listen to the person who read the story. Nathan, the central character in the book, has his Mormon blinders on ... he is so concerned about everyone in the story but he hardly shows any concern or interest for his father who was ex-d years prior to the story.
The book exhibited many characteristics of the BITE model of cult mind control described by cult researcher Steve Hassan- us vs. them thinking, sacred science, mystical manipulation, milieu control, dispensing of existence, doctrine over self, totalist reframing, social pressure, black and white thinking, indirect directives, emotion over intellect, and induced phobias.
One could use the narrative in this story to show how Mormonism embodies cult mind control.
