Publisher's Summary

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the story that garnered more than two million reads online.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate - and completely irresistible. A beautiful bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative - completely infuriating - creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules - or outright smash them - if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789 - and garnering over two million reads on fan-fiction sites - Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for rerelease.

I didn't care for it.

I read the reviews before listening to it. I ended up fast forwarding a lot. To me it was a lot of sex, with a wee bit of story. I'm not a prude when it comes to sex but neither do I want to listen to a book that is all about sex, which is the reason I never bought 50 shades of anything. There were a couple of funny parts but those were few and far between. Plus the sex had no imagination to it. Bottom line, very boring.

Did not know i ordered Pornography

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

less graphic and more story.

Has Beautiful Bastard turned you off from other books in this genre?

JUST THE SERIES, Which unfortunately i bought two more of before a trip.

How could the performance have been better?

Some inflection and less like a 1-900 telephone call

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Beautiful Bastard?

all of them

Any additional comments?

waste of $$$$$

Not worth a credit

This book was decently written, edited, & narrated. The main reason it gets only 2 stars is that the entire premise of the story is a bit skeevy. If it goes on sale, which is how I got it, then it may be worth a try. It definitely kept me til the end but I had to take breaks from the story as the entire premise made it difficult for me to listen. Really, a boss in a power position with an employee having sexual relations is a bit much to take.

Just okay for me!

Voices great! Story not so much. The sex was hot and believable but that's all. There wasn't much of a story. I plan on listening to more in this series but atleast my expectations won't be as high.

Excessive use of the word "COCK"

Would you try another book from Christina Lauren and/or Grace Grant?

I doubt it very seriously if I will try another book by Christina Lauren or Grace Grant. The book will have to come highly recommended and the reviews outstanding before I try another one. I purchased this back in July and I still have 1 hour left. OMG, just plain awful. Hope, it's not too late to return.

What was most disappointing about Christina Lauren’s story?

The most disappointing was the excessive use of the word cock. Please understand, I do enjoy a good erotic romance novel, however I think the authors could have been a little more creative in describing the male organ.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Grace Grant?

Becca Batoe or David de Vries would have been great narrators for this book. The novel was written in two voices. It was very difficult to understand when the male was telling the story or female. The narrator did not change voices.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

One, just one redeeming quality. I understand this was fan fiction of Fifty Shades of Grey. I can say it was better than most fan fiction I've read. The authors didn't copy, they wrote their own story.

Men Beware

Gentlemen, I hope you get down the list far enough to see this. You may notice that all the five star reviews are from women. That is because this is only borderline erotica. This is Romance or shall we say Lustmance.

POWER PANTIES
Okay, I like a girl who buys power panties. I do worry about a guy who collects them though. Most of the 20 chapters have a sexual encounter in them and the sex is hot at times. If you like different places, I believe they had sex in about four places, before they made it to a bed. The first part of the book is I hate you, but your hot, so go ahead and rip my panties and do what you want with me. The middle of the book is, what about my career, I should not be doing this, I will not do it again, but your so hot, okay bend me over. The last half is warm and fuzzy sex. They claim they love each other, but they don't want to get married, they don't want to move in to together they just want to be F buddies.

I CRAVED HER LIKE A DRUG
This guy is so giving in the end. When her dad is sick and may be dying of cancer, he shows his love by offering to do some muff diving. Hell, how can she turn that down, it sure shows he cares.

Audible has this down as sex and erotica, but I notice the sequel is considered a romance.

As far as having sex with a woman you think is a bitch, we don't care. I mean that is what she is needs anyway, I'm I right guys. All women just need orgasms and we men are usually not that picky, but I thought it was different the other way around.

All of the characters sound the same, male or female. They should have had two different narrators.

This is a three star book for guys and a five star sex book for women.

Poor content

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

A sex addict.

What could Christina Lauren have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Nothing, poor content, a little story would have helped.

How could the performance have been better?

More content, less sexual detail which was 95% of the story, ugh!!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, anybody can write garbage.

Surprising!

This novel is 80% sex. I like my sex, believe me, but typically when it's all eroticism paired with a weak story line and little character development I get disappointed then wish I hadn't bothered. For the amount of sex within this novel and it being less than 12 hours I SHOULD have been disappointed, but I wasn't and still can't really figure out why. This book is definitely H-O-T-T hot, I never doubted that, but some where along the way Christina Lauren managed to sneak in more and enthrall me. One thing I enjoyed that separates "Beautiful Bastard" from other erotic romance novels is that the reader/listener learns about the characters little by little. In most cases an author will share nearly everything to know in long drawn out monologs, as in here are your people this is who they are, what they look like, what they do, and now lets get in between the sheets. In Lauren's novel I was initially super confused as to what would lead to the first encounter then slowly I began to get it, and found that refreshing. This story has a Pride and Prejudice air to it; almost as if this is how Elizabeth and Darcy would have dealt with their dislike yet undeniable attraction today with our looser morals and lack of pomp and circumstance. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite love story ever, so maybe finding the similarities is what made me like this novel so much. One way or the other I found Bennet and Chloe to be realistic, intriguing, endearing, and their story really being one worth telling but just can't understand when that happened. "Beautiful Bastard" is definitely worth the credit or even spending the 12 bucks, so download it then let me know how you feel.

NEEDS a male narrator!!!!

After reading the book, decided to listen to so had it's attractions but the terrible female attempt to do the male interpretation chapters was a disaster. This book should be redone with a male narrator! Otherwise I would not waste money.
