Awful interview

The Beastie Boys were extremely rude in this interview. I was very disappointed. I had actually planned on listening to their book because the interviewers seemed so excited over it and made it sound so good. But the rudeness of the group turned me against that and changed my mind. Talking over the interviewers was the one thing that just made my blood boil. Just listen to it. You'll see what i mean.

Hits Most of the Right Notes

Story: 3-Stars
************

The centerpiece of this episode is an interview excerpt with the Beastie Boys covering the release of their book. Surrounding the interview are editor recommendations of their favorite music-based titles. I would have appreciated some clarity with these selections. Are these simply books about music? Or are they titles that include music as part of their audio production? This was not made clear, and my interest in the latter is much higher than the former.

The interview itself is quintessential Beastie Boys, who unconsciously resist the confines of anything that attempts to impose order. It is, by turns, irreverent, funny, and insightful. Depending on your tastes, this may be a drawback or a positive.

*******************

The episode has a bit of a thrown-together feel. While they do their jobs well in terms of presentation, the editors lack their usual enthusiasm in their role as fierce advocates for their choices. For the first time in the Audicted series, I felt this was more a timely marketing exercise to sell a hot new title than a serious attempt to inform listeners. That being said, I really like the precedent of including interviews with authors and hope more of this can be interspersed in future episodes.

Bonus

I wasn't too into this episode. It was still good I wouldn't say it's bad but I'm not into books that are about music. This was still interesting but not one of my favorites or preferred ones.

Much about nothing Beastie !

This episode was supposed to be about the BB Band. Didn't hear much from the band due to the Audible Editors. I hope the Beastie Boys book is about the band !
