Meh

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The narration was pretty decent, the story line was nothing new to the genre... typical alien invasion/humanity fights back concept. The dialog was, at times, hokey. This book seemed rushed somehow. Like the author had all of these great ideas and tried to put them all into the story.

action! action! action!

The narrator for this book did a very good job on the voices in this book. There was lots of action as the good guys fought an invasion by an old nemesis. So if you want action in your reading tnen this is a good book for you.

Interesting start to a series!

This is the first sci-fi audiobook I’ve listened to and I really enjoyed it. The story took a little while to fully get going as there were a number of characters to introduce and at the start of the book each was involved in a different activity in a different location. It doesn’t take long though before it becomes clear how these characters fit into the story and come together in a common fight against alien attackers. For me this was when the story really gathered momentum. While I liked all the characters and what they brought to the story I’m usually more of a fantasy than sci-fi reader, so I particularly loved the slight cross-over into fantasy with The Eternals and how they wield their magic against the aliens. Overall I really enjoyed the story - I found the main characters likeable, the story was fast paced and the ending shows the author has so much more lined up for the next instalment in the trilogy.

The narrator was new to me and I thought he did a great job of the general narration but at times was a bit more wooden when he came to dialogue. This might be because of the number of different character voices he had to do. While I struggled with his voices for the female characters, I particularly liked the voice he gave Jon (one of The Eternals). For me this character stole the show and the voice the narrator gave him definitely suited the character.

I received an arc of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review

Blend of science and magic.

I liked the story with an interesting political twist involving why people are surprised. The narration was well done but should have been a women with all the female characters. The male version of a woman’s voice gets tiring.

Great story - needs a different narrator.

Great story, just can't get past the narration. Kills it for me.

Lots of voices

The reality is pretty good with the radio transmissions being accurate sounding, different accents etc. I did find it took me a little bit to get into the story but now I want the second one to find out what happens next with the invading forces of evil creatures. Army/military style genre, defending the planet from aliens with some mage magic as well.

Exciting and action packed!!!!

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this story, the action is fast paced and enjoyable and the concept of travelling back in time to defeat an enemy only for the general population to forget it new to me. I would have preferred a little more from the characters as I feel that they're personalities were lightly covered.

It took me a little while to get used to the narrator as some of the voices were a little strange.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and I will be adding book 2 to my wish list.
