Resumen del Editor

He only looked away for a second.

Still haunted by the disappearance of his little sister, Amy, over 20 years ago, Joseph Bridgeman’s life has fallen apart. When a friend talks him into seeing hypnotherapist Alexia Finch to help with his insomnia, Joseph accidentally discovers he can time travel. His first trip only takes him back a few minutes, but his new-found ability gives him something he hasn’t felt for the longest time: hope.

Joseph sets out to travel back to the night Amy went missing and save her. But after several failed attempts, he discovers the farther back he travels, the less time he gets to stay there. And the clock is ticking.

With the help of Alexia, Joseph embarks on a desperate race against the past to save his sister. Can he master his new skill and solve the mystery of Amy’s disappearance before it’s too late?

Previously released as The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman, this updated version includes extra chapters, new plotlines, and even deeper character development. It makes way for an expanded vision of the Joseph Bridgeman Series, with the first four books released in 2021 and 2022.

Good storyline, not so good narrator.

I loved the story, but had a hard time with the narrator. His voice for Amy was hard to listen to and I was confused why he chose to do an American accent. It made it hard to remember that the story was set in Europe.

Ray Porter is amazing

I loved this book. I will listen to anything Ray Porter reads, he is a favorite stage actor, and he brings any book to life.
This book was a delightful time travel confection. It kept me eager to listen, and I’m thrilled to look for sequels.

questionable accent

I loved the idea of the story. The narrator was good, but I don't understand why the main character had an American accent when he is supposed to be British. This really took away from the story.

A realistic delightful romp through time.

As with the butterfly effect, time travel is difficult to write about and not become entangled in the quagmire of theory and storyline as well as character development. I loved this book and look forward to the next in the series.

Excellent Ride

It’s always great to find a perfect author/narrator combo. Ray Porter is the best.
While new to Nick Jones writing, this seemed like a perfect fit.
I am excited to know there will be additional books! Can’t wait!
While the author doesn’t explain how the time travel is done, it’s not needed. The characters are interesting and the storyline keeps you hooked from the start. I had a hard time not consuming this all at once and found it hard to break away from the story.
If you like time travel and the possibilities that can arise from such actions you will enjoy this and if not, “I’ll eat my hat.”
Great work!

British?

Ray Porter is a great reader but why is the primary character done with an American accent when he's British. alll the other characters are done eith a British accent, and it's set in Britain?

Very engaging.

And Then She Vanished is an excellent story. Draws you in at the start and doesn't let you go till the end, but what makes it so appealing, is the characters. The MC, Joseph Bridgeman, and supporting cast are vivid and three dimensional. Realistic and relatable too. You form immediate attachments and care about the events unfolding in their lives.

When time travel is introduced as well as psychometry, it's accepted without the blink of an eye. Best of all there's no deus ex machina or glossing over of the abilities. (I hate when an author does that.) The speculation about how time travel is possible, guessing about its rules and the scientific breakdown of how it works is very believable, as well as Joe's explanation of his psychometric empathy with inanimate objects.

Kudos to Nick Jones! What a storyteller. Hard to believe this is his first book.

I am on the fence about Ray Porter's performance. I enjoyed it, but was disappointed he chose an American accent for Joe, when it's apparent from the start he's British. But! Joe was still a pleasure to listen to, as well as the rest of the cast. I especially liked Vinnie and his interactions with Joe.

So if you're looking for a story that will sweep you away and keep you entertained for hours, you've found it. And a second book in the series, The Shadows of London, is due out in June of 2021. Woot! I can't wait. Well worth the credit.

Joseph Bridgeman Series

The Joseph Bridgeman Series, at this writing, consists of three novels from 9-12 hours of listening in unabridged audiobook format released from February 2021 through March 2022 - a fourth book is to be released in October 2022, written by Nick Jones, narrated by Ray Porter - Blackstone Publishing.

Series plot. While using a relaxation technique, Joseph Bridgeman accidentally jumps back in time. Jumps get longer. Bridgeman learns of a Continuum of individuals who police time. The Continuum members are "good guys" that correct wrongs and redirect events without interfering with any devastating butterfly events. Owner of an antique store, Bridgeman has always been able to see the story of an item, like a fountain pen or an old radio, a talent unique to the Continuum.

Liked - everything. It's a great series. Narration by Porter, production, all fine. You found a good one if you're looking for a paranormal/Time Travel/SciFi type series! Each novel has a beginning-middle-ending; however, you'll miss some relative continuity and character development without starting at book one, And Then She Vanished.

Enjoy!
