Can't go wrong with Elder Races!

I am a huge fan of the Elder Races books... so anything in this series is a winner for me.
I really like the .5 books, b/c it shows different aspects of the Elder Races world that don't focus on Dragos or one of the Sentinels, although Dragos or the Griffins are my absolute FAVORITES!

The first story was my favorite. The whole Tarot Card killer thing was really interesting. This is a must for those who follow the series... a great credit, buy or sale.

Narration was superb...as Eastlake is one of the best!

2 books in 1!

This held 2 books. Both books, and it does appear that there will be more, focus around an old set of Weir Tarot Cards.

The first is about a serial killer after a particular type of Weir. It had great chemistry, great buildup, but overall I was hoping it would be longer, and have a happily ever after epilogue, but it didn't. But always nice to visit the Weir Domain.

Second book was about a normal human stopping to help an injured dog that turned out to be a giant Weir dog...of course! Not a lot of chemistry in this book...it tried...but it failed. the leading female was 40 something and attracted to a twenty something Weir...it had a bit of an ick factor for me. Although it was always nice to visit the Weir Domain...'eh...I wish the first story had just been expanded more.

So, first story 5/5, second story 3/5, resulting in 4/4...and narrator was amazing as usual!

A tarot deck with a mind of its own.

In this two book bundle, we get our first glimpse of a tarot deck that seems to have a mind of its own. The journey of the tarot deck continues with Destiny's Tarot.

**True Colors**

Unlike with many of the other books in the series, Alice is a completely new character never mentioned before. I'm not honestly sure if Gideon had been mentioned previously either. Regardless, I very much enjoyed their story. They are the first couple in the series to recognize one another as mates at more or less first sight. That was an enjoyable change of pace. Their story, though short, is HEA with no cliffhanger.

**Natural Evil**

While I did enjoy this book, I'm not sure I enjoyed it quite as much as the first book in the Divine Tarot duo, True Colors (book 3.5 in the series). I did find the story very interesting. It honestly could've probably afforded to be a bit longer of a story. Unlike the previous books in this series, I don't remember Claudia and Luis claiming to be mates specifically. Additionally, I'm not entirely sure their future is all that well defined. Will they end up together? Is this relationship for life? All we know is that Luis got some time off following his injury and has decided to follow Claudia during that time. It seems to fall along the lines of a HFN ending, not HEA.

Divine Paranormal Romance

These short novellas are perfect treats for Elder Race fans. While nothing major happens to advance the story arc for the series, it's just a nice visit with character friends. Brief top-notch entertainment.

Great $3.72 members sale!!! Wow what a great listen. I would pay full price as heroine in story 2 In Natural Evil, is kick butt military. Ms Sophie 2014 male voice deepened and wow! Her 2011 2012 reads of this series are higher pitched so books 2-5, I own will be on the back burner. All these non Pia stories hold their own, and frankly eg Moonstone box set is wonderful. Hence l bought them all on 85% off sale. I love a good short story eg Earnest Hemingway, and Ms Thea knows how very well to write them. Entertainment just doesn’t get better. Thea’s dialogue is wonderfully strong. This story is right up there with reader January LaVoy Save Me from Dangerous Men. Not to be missed.

Loved it, hated it

I loved this book, but am totally dissatisfied with the way we are left hanging at the end of it. Since the next I’m Series is about other characters, I am hoping at least some of this couples’ future is revealed.

Love the Elder Races

Really happy the novellas are finally starting to come out in audio.

This collection is the first two novellas in the Elder Races series True Colors (Elder Races #3.5) and Natural Evil (Elder Races, #4.5)

Both are good stories and the narration is excellent

First story better than second

Two stories in the world of the paranormal Elder Races series
Four stars for True Colors
Setting:New York
The characters in the first story were engaging and likable, and the plot kept my interest. Gideon is an Alpha male, with both positive and negative attributes that make him real. The character of Alice is three-dimensional, with positive and negative traits that make her believable in the plot.
Two stars for Natural Evil
Setting: Nevada
What can I say? I just couldn't find anything in Claudia attractive. Except for rescuing the half-dead dog at the side of the road, there is nothing engaging about her as a romantic heroine. I understand that going to war can put a hard edge on people, but I've known people with war-related PTSD, and they weren't all morose and unhappy. You do not forget how to laugh just because you've seen death up close and personal - just ask any first-responder. Luis was okay, but these two as love-interests didn't strike me as realistic, even in the unreal world of the paranormal.
I did enjoy the Tarot deck as a device to connect the two stories.
Narration was great. I am enjoying Sophie Eastlake's performance of this series.
This was worth the credit, if only for the first story.

Love is in the cards for four new characters

An antique, hand-painted deck of fortune-telling cards are passed along by the heroine of the first story to the heroine of the second novella, loosely connecting their narratives. Unlike standard tarot cards, these bear symbols specific to the Elder Races belief system. Each chapter is titled with the name of a card from the deck.

The first story focuses on a fascinating breed of shifters who are new to the Elder Races series and very much an endangered species. A blizzard conveniently strands the hero and heroine in her home. Riehl, a homicide detective, believes that Alice can help him solve the mystery of an OCD serial killer who has murdered three of her friends. Time is of the essence since Alice may be next on the hit list.

The second story introduces us to Claudia, an ex-soldier who came back from her tours overseas with scars from her experience of traumatic warfare. Her psychic skills are pretty low compared to other members of the Elder races, but they prove useful in helping her figure out who tried to murder Luis, a wyr unable to shift from his dog form when she finds him on the side of the road. The mystery of why he was targeted sets the stage for the next novella, in Destiny's Tarot, with the same deck making its way into a new pair of hands.

Sophie Eastlake does a great job with the narration, as usual. I would feel more satisfied about spending a credit if all four novellas were bundled together. However, the quality of the stories still makes them a good buy.
