The situation is as the title says ...

DIRE is book #8 in the David Wolf series. Except for books 5&6 these can all be listened to as stand alone books. I prefer listening in order for the continuity in ongoing relationships.
This book begins with Wolf making an icy water rescue. While doing this he sprains his ankle. After being sent to the hospital, he meets a nurse who attracts his attention. The first woman since his ex wife.
She may not have issues but some of the people she knows do and that gets her five year old daughter kidnapped. The kidnappers take off with the little girl and the bodies start piling up. And the tension builds. This comes to a twisted end that was very unexpected.
Sean Patrick Hopkins does a great job narrating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this entire series.

Dire

This. book has a great plot and enjoyable crafter development. His books are always beautifully illustrated using words and this to describe the country side.

Mind grabbing

Again a Jeff Carson book grabbed you from the beginning to the end. Stop Patrick hips Hopkins narrative of the book . Puts you right in the story.

Another Detective Wolfe

I really enjoy the somewhat light heartedness of these books. They are very serious but not as gruesome as some novels.

Excellent series

I read all the books so far, and each series is full of drama and action throughout. I love David Wolff’s core team, the others I’m not crazy about. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Dire is as good if not better than the first seven books. Carson didn’t let down a bit on the mystery and excitement. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

A great listen

I enjoy Jeff Carson’s Wolf series. This book was a little weak on storyline. The narrator was brilliant and I enjoyed listening to his voice while on my dog walks.
