Writing needs a better editor

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this story so far, but the writing needs help. The constant use of words like “however”, make it seem like a good portion of the descriptions are afterthoughts with lazy fixes.

Great story and ideas, but poor writing and slow progression.

Narrator is fine, aside from the oft cringe-worthy demon voice (but you get used to it I guess). With danger of sounding too critical, as I have enjoyed the books so far, I will take a moment to gripe about the writing.

Writer has a lot of great ideas, and the world and story is interesting, but loses focus throughout the books, slowly shifting focus of writing (earlier was much more progression focused in concrete ways). It just feels like there is a serious lack of planning. It felt like very little of real substance happened in the book, and the story is taking baby steps. At this rate, there will be 100 books before the story is done (which means I’ll never get to read the end of the story because chances of writer burning out before story is over at this rate is high :( )

As for actually writing, someone get this writer a proper editor. Some of the turns of phrase like “look in the mouth of a gift horse”, in a single sentence, and incessant, lazy, or odd use of e.g “screamed danger”, “was shocked to X but soon i.e. understood” in a single sentence, or “by now”, or “spread out” (when there are so many options like permeated/inundated the area, exploded from the epicenter of, blasted from, etc..) could be worked through with good editor in my opinion. I get that it is from royal road and chapters are published at a high pace, editors cost money, etc., but it just has so much more potential!

Great story

What a great continuation of the series. Absolutely have enjoyed this series. Great story, no graphic sexual situations.

Each book is better than the last

This is easily one of the best Progression Fantasy (Cultivation) novels I have had the pleasure to experience. If you liked the previous book you will like this one more!

I love these series of books overall good story don't even hanging on so much

cool story line at times easy to get into others not so much

when the writer gets into story mode it's great book but not so much when we get into " description mode" which is about 70% of the time. that part is very hard to get through and at times has me feeling like skipping an entire chapter or two of explanations to pick up where the story left off. Also don't let the usage of "however" wear you out... it's used like a bazillion times...

Confusing but still enjoyable

I have been grinding through the previous books a feverish pace however this one had parts that were a slog to get through. I felt the story was confusing and the characters motivations were not in line with the previous stories. A lot of the mystic realm was a challenge to get through and the book could have ended after that however it kept going and I mostly enjoyed after that. I felt the author just glossed over sections that seemed important and expanded on useless explanations in other parts. It seems like the past two books really could have been whittled down to 1. I agree with the other commenters that the author needs a good editor. I enjoy the longer books but sometimes it’s a bit excessive. Looking forward to next book though!

Good start to the next arc

This book felt like it nicely tied up much of the last several books and set us up for the next big arc of the story. Not too much in terms of character development, would like to spend some time with other people, but it was a fun and engaging listen.

awesome performance and great story. It got a bit monotonous compared to the others but there is so much we could ask this far into the series! Still a great book!
