Publisher's summary

As wedding bells chime in Kurland St. Mary, a motley group of visitors descends on the village - and with a murderer on the prowl, some of them may not be returning home....

Lucy Harrington has returned to Kurland St. Mary to help with her friend Sophia Giffin's wedding. But her homecoming is made disagreeable by the presence of Major Robert Kurland, whose bungled proposal has ruffled Lucy's composure, and a meddling widow who has designs on her father, the village rector.

Wary of the cloying Mrs. Chingford from the start, Lucy has doubts about the busybody's intentions with her father. But everyone else seems to think they make an ideal match - until the courtship is curtailed when Mrs. Chingford is found dead at the bottom of a staircase. It's clear that it wasn't an accident, and in hopes of finding the culprit, Lucy and Robert call a truce and begin scrutinizing the wedding guests. But the widow left behind plenty of enemies, and when one of them is the next to turn up dead, Lucy and Robert discover that the truth is far more scandalous than anyone could have imagined....

WELL WRITTEN AND WELL PERFORMED.

Beautiful! I just love the way Major Sir Robert proposed to Lucy. That was so we'll done! I I hope there will be more books to come from this series.

Finally!!

Robert took long enough to finally admit his love for Lucy! I am throughly enjoying this series. The narrator is fabulous.

Loved all 3 in series!

Would you listen to Death Comes to Kurland Hall again? Why?

This is third in series. Really enjoyed the whole series and would like to have it go on. This series is best read in order as the relationship of the characters are part of the storyline. These are grizzly murders and well told storylines. Suspense and mystery and having it in audio added to the story. Loved the accents.

Catherine Lloyd -- please write book 4

What a great cozy! It's easy to find yourself caught up in the story. I find myself checking to see if the 4th book in the series is out yet.

Mystery VS Romance Novel

I loved the first book in this three book series. The characters were well developed and the sense of mystery strong--with an excellent historic setting. The second book moved the characters to London and became much more of a study of manners in society. There was still a mystery quality to the book--but it was less engaging. Now this third installment is a total game changer. The mystery recedes and the romance completely takes over. I personally will walk a mile out of my way to avoid a romance novel.

To me, the story was slow with serious gaps in the plot that at times made me think I had dozed off and missed a section. I would go back several chapters and listen again only to find that huge sections of the story had been just skipped over. I also found an unevenness in the plot with errors or fact changes that are never addressed or explained. Plus the story contains so much arguing and fighting between the characters that it verges on tedious.

Worse than anything, I found my mind wandering while I listened. I would suddenly find myself making a grocery list or planning the next days activities. I was just bored by it all and simply not engaged with this weak installment in the series. Too much rewinding and too little mystery for me. Proceed only if you enjoy romance novels with a hint of mystery on the side.
