Publisher's summary

Scientist Ever Haynes was shocked when she was abducted by alien slavers...but the last thing she expected was to find herself pregnant with a cyborg's baby.

Ever has been fighting for her life since her abduction, and the only good thing to happen to her was one heated night with a mysterious prisoner - a connection, a flash of light in the darkness. But then he was rescued and she was left behind. Now, weeks later, she's been saved by the House of Galen gladiators...and by the man she shared the hottest night of her life with. But cool, emotionless cyborg Magnus Rone has no memory of their night together and finding out that she's expecting his baby is a shock to everyone.

Created in a military program, Magnus is genetically and cybernetically enhanced - emotionless, ruthless, focused. He vows to protect Ever and the baby she carries, and despite his lack of memory, everything about tough, levelheaded Ever draws him in. All his life, his emotional dampeners and training have limited his ability to feel emotions...but one small Earth woman cuts through all that and leaves him feeling.

As they work together to hunt down the deadly desert arena of Zaabha and the final human woman trapped there, Ever and Magnus find a stunning passion neither can resist or ignore. But in the dangerous desert sands of Carthago, with the House of Galen gladiators by their sides, deadly enemies are closing in. Ever and Magnus will be dragged back into the darkness, and Magnus will do anything and sacrifice everything to keep her safe.

One of the best series out there alien or not.

Anna brings fantastic heroins. Hero you love and who aren’t the same character over and over. The plot of the series is great. World building very cool. I hate to see it ending soon. So i think I’ll just reread it. Or Re listen.

Magnus

Magnus is the Imperator of the House of Rone, and as a cyborg, is not supposed to have feelings (or be able to have children). This isn't the case when it comes to Ever. Ever, a human abducted from the far reaches of the galaxy, is pregnant... with his child. Knowing that he has some lost memories from an ambush/ rescue operation, but also knowing he shouldn't have been able to father a child throws him for a loop.

There is also the matter of relocating Zhabba and rescuing another abducted human, Sam Santos. The struggle to keep Ever safe while still utilizing her intelligence and skill from her former career collide and put Ever back in the line of fire.

Great story, chemistry, action/adventure/ romance... what's not to love?

House of Rone Excitement!

10 books in and we're still getting that perfect blend of action and romance. Enjoyed the story and developing arc as it nears the end of the Series, and Vivienne Leheny does an excellent job narrating! solid 4.5-5stars for story and performance.

Cyborgs are human too

I think Galactic Gladiators is my favorite Anna Hackett series (although I love them all) and with Cyborg we are getting to the end of the current extended story line. Ms. Hackett does not disappoint here, ramping up the action as she puts the pieces in place for the final battle. Cyborg, which contains the action her stories are known for, also has a slightly different approach to the relationship between the hero and heroine due the Ever's pregnancy and Magnus's ability to suppress his emotions. This is a great read that both leaves me (not so) patiently waiting for the next book and sad to see the end of the series

Love it

Love the story and love the narrator. Super fast listen. Vivienne Leheny does an awesome job on each of the characters voices so there was no confusing parts about who was talking.

Cyborg

Ever and Magnus are courageous, honorable, compassionate people who fall in love despite the odds stacked against them. Their relationship demonstrates what it means to make the difficult decisions for the ones we love and the toll it takes on their psyche to be tasked with such responsibility!! Thank goodness they have great friends and family to support them in times of need! I love Vivienne Leheny and her fabulous performances throughout this series!!

The formula is so annoying

If you’ve made it this far congratulations this is more formula than book. Like paint by numbers only with writing. This time we’re saving Sam but I just think of all the rescuees as HUMAN X. Since their plights and personalities are identical.

Take Ever for example, like all of the women in these books she is a cringey, type-A, extrovert. That includes being aggressive, competitive and obsessed with being ‘productive’ 🤮. No one would fault the traumatised rescued earthlings for staying in bed for a week or two, or getting some therapy, or developing an anxiety disorder, or even just taking a beat to reflect on what happened to them, but it NEVER happens, there's no room in the formula. The narrator is proficient, but her tone is also incredibly cringey, like cowboy-meets-used-car-salesman cringey. Magnus’ robotic, cold dialogue saved the book. Sex with a cyborg was all I came here for. But FYI his peen was not cybernetic, so that sucks.

This time mfc is pregnant (with a child she claims to want) yet she STILL demands to go into battle. Completely irresponsible. We already know how insanely dangerous it will be; IT’S PART OF THE FORMULA. Every battle involves superhero feats of strength and near death experiences. ALL of the villains are ripped aliens and vicious hell beasts. I almost went into orbit when Ever said the mission - TO FIND THE MOST DEADLY FIGHT CLUB IN THE UNIVERSE - was “low risk”. Are you kidding me? IRL her actions would have killed that baby. She was completely delusional. Delusional in the way of brainwashed government assets. Also, what’s with giving everyone malfunctioning camouflage suits is she trying to get them killed? Also she must have known that her presence would distract her mate and put his life in peril⁉️⁉️⁉️

Ever is a horrible human being.
