Always great

Tony is one of my favorite mystery writers, I find his daughter is not quite up to his standards, miss him a lot

Just OK

Not his best story. But it did introduce a new character and I’m sure we’ll see more of her

The atmosphere that Mr.Holler man creates

I liked the characters, the romance, the mystery, the teaching about other cultures devoid of prejudice, and I dislike that every story has to end.

the irony

I like the storylineand the flesh out of the characters mixed with Navajo mythology and folklore.

I love all things Tony Hillerman, well done!

I lived in south east Utah for almost 2 decades. Hillerman paints a picture of the high desert like no other. I can close my eyes and see the clouds and mountains of the land I love so much!

Surprise Ending

It’s been years since I read this book even so, I was embarrassed to realize I didn’t remember the slightest details. I was at the edge of my seat trying to figure out how Chee and Leaphorn were going to solve this mystery. I was absolutely surprised and delighted with the end of the story. I enjoy the narrators subtle voice changes for each character.

George Guidall is usually my favorite

But he must have been experiencing voice problems here. Sometimes like a low growl and difficult to make out words.

Really entertaining

Good plot, a little romance, a touch of sadness, Satisfying. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.

These books weave culture, history, geography, legend, and immersive personalities and drama in a very intriguing narrative that paints a wonderful visual painting in the listeners mind. Loved it!

Excellent book with all the familiar characters

Bringing all the Navajo police force into the book shows realistic interaction and is included in most. I always appreciate the narration that is included in these series. Waiting now for the next release.
