totally enjoyed this

this ol boy just gets it. the characters are awesome and real. the story flows perfectly in and out of the mystery to nostalgic regret in a way that is totally relatable. had me guessing til the end and when i thought i had it solved i was wrong again. love that! combine that with the voice of the immortal angus king and you have one hell of a listen on your hands. thank jm.

Great storytelling

At first it was difficult to understand the dialect but I gave it time and I caught on. This is a super detective story with interesting characters. Deeply hidden secrets come to play and change the trajectory of the story. Good start for a series.

Excellent beginning to a new series

Am new to this author and plan to read more of his books. This one was very good....great setting and characters. Held my interest throughout.

Great story

I love the setting of these stories and so well narrated by Angus King. I look forward to the next one!

I had a hard time understanding the narrator.

This was a very good book, but I almost returned it. It took a few chapters for me to relax and accept the fact that I would just miss some words because of his Scottish accent. Otherwise it was excellent.

Looking Forward to the Next

Really enjoyed this first DI Duncan McAdam book and can't wait for the next one and seeing how and where things go for Duncan. As always, Angus King is a master of his his craft!

The story kept my interest and kept me guessing.

People seem to like the narrator, but I really, really did not. His normal voice is fine, but some of the other voices he does were bad - cartoonish or hard to understand..

Very much enjoyed this story

As I stated in title, I enjoyed this story and being on the island learning so much about its inhabitants. Hoping Duncan leads a more satisfying life as well.

Very compelling story so much more than a "who done it" loved the human side of the story. It was very relatable.
