Publisher's summary

USA Today best-selling author Kathi Daley brings you a heartwarming mystery series about finding answers and fostering hope while building friendships and embracing the magic of life by the sea and small town holidays.

Ainsley Holloway came to Gooseberry Bay to find answers about her past. She came to find an explanation for the dreams that had haunted her after the death of the cop who’d both rescued and raised her, and she came to find the identity of the family she couldn’t remember but assumed at one point she’d been part of.

She hoped that by finding these answers she’d also find healing. She hoped that once she exorcised the memories buried deep in her mind, she’d find peace.

The Cottage at Gooseberry Bay is a series about, not only finding answers, but finding hope. It’s a story about family and friendship, and it's a story about the ties that bind one resident of a small close knit community to another. It’s a series about shared holidays, festivals, and celebrations. It’s a series about shared heartbreak and hardship as well. And it’s a series about the bond that can be forged amongst strangers when tragedy binds two or more individuals with a common goal.

In book two in the series, Ainsley finally meets Adam Winchester. Intent of finding the answers she came to Washington to unveil, she begins to initiate herself into his life. Adam seems to have his own set of demons to deal with, but Ainsley had dealt with men harboring inner demons before, and she knows that with enough time and the right approach, she could get him to open up and share what he knows for both their sakes.

Meanwhile, Ainsley joins forces with Parker, Jemma, and Josie as they search for the truth about what might have happened to the family who vanished five Thanksgivings ago.

Great series **Spoiler Alert**

I absolutely LOVE the mystery behind the true identities of the characters! The Charm Kathi adds to Gooseberry Bay is incredible! My advice start from the first book and go in order! Only thing I don’t like is the way it’s read, I’m not sure why it annoys me but the way Angel says “Tyler SAYS” at the end of who is speaking doesn’t sound right to me! But that’s my opinion! Otherwise incredible listen, would recommend 1000%

Complex and compelling cozy mystery

Cottage on Gooseberry Bay has a complicated plot which is very satisfying. Ainsley is in Gooseberry Bay in Washington state to try to uncover her family secrets, based on a photo that her "adoptive" father had that she is convinced shows she and her sister as small children. The photo shows a house that she finds in Gooseberry Bay so she starts to investigate the women in the photo and the mystery of her past. She is a P..I. after all. But she gets wrapped up in another intriguing story of a family in Gooseberry Bay that mysteriously disappeared 6 years before with still no trace. The story has good characters who make the cases more interesting and it also gives the reader a feel for the area and climate around her. It would have helped me to have read the previous books because the story alludes to events and people from before, but it soon sorts these details out. The story is just the right length and it leaves some mystery for the next installment. I found that the narrator had a very young-sounding voice that did not do well with male characters but not bad overall. I really enjoyed the book.

The narrator -UGH DNF

I could not take the narrator any more. The story seemed interesting but the individual reading it was awful. I think I’ll read this one instead. I really wanted a good Thanksgiving book. Totally bummed!
