A short primer on Cooking at a low cost

In this Short Audio Book anyone new to Cooking can pick up some important tips
on preparing their own meals.

Because it is short it is more likely that it will be listened to and some lessons will be
learned. If it was in more detail the people who would gain the most would probably not listened to it.

Common Sense Guide to Healthy Eating on a Budget

This short listen is a nice guide to healthy eating without breaking the bank. This book provides tips on what foods to buy, when to buy them and even alternate places to shop. The author even went as far as to break down what fruits and vegetables are in season by the month.

All in all, I enjoyed the book. I was given this free review copy at my request in exchange for an unbiased review.

Great tips for feeding my hungry boys on a budget.

The author suggests healthy foods to buy with a list of the months they are in season. Dinner ideas for foods that can be frozen for quick meals later. Tips for getting the most for your money like... Using coupons, hitting sales, where to go to save on meats, and more. For me this book is worth the money. The narrator does a good job. And the author knows how to work a grocery list on a budget. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

Great basic advice

What a great collection of basic advice for people who are not used to eating this way. It's low on specifics which makes it general enough to fit anyone. It's a good reference too, especially with the accompanying pdf.

The short length makes it approachable which is important. People used to cooking a lot may not fully appreciate how intimidating cooking can be to others.

Since it's so very short, there's room for improvement. Especially in refining general ideas presented. For example: coupons aren't really going to help with this kind of cooking because almost all coupons target packaged brands, not raw ingredients.

Overall, this is a wonderful intro for someone who's unused to cooking inexpensively with basic ingredients.

Good money savings tips!

This was a very short listen with a helpful accompanying PDF. I think the tips are great. I think this would be helpful for the college student and someone on their own for the first time.

Even though we are warned from the beginning that its a short book, I still wanted it to continue with some menu planning ideas, some basic daily nutrition suggestions and some more basic cooking ideas. A part 2 book would be great.

I was gifted a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Great, enjoyable guide to easy budget cooking

I've been trying to make my own meals, both for health and budgetary reasons. Being able to prepare my own food has saved me a ton of money and, frankly, added a great deal of nutrition to my diet.

This is a great collection of tips and guidance to becoming a savvy home chef. I really enjoyed listening to it during my commute, and its guidance has been excellent. Great book.

Good overview, lots of lists

Cooking on a Budget is a fairly simple book, but that doesn't mean the information isn't useful.

It goes through simple times on how to cut costs (don't shop when hungry, stick to a list, if you can't tell the difference then buy unbranded etc.). All very useful, if simple.

The book contains a lot of lists (such as which fruit and veg are in season in which month) but it does come with a PDF with all this information, which makes it easy. You don't have to memorise the list.

Note that there may be some translation needed in some places, due to different names for things. for example Rutabagas are mentioned several times. But in the UK, Australia and other places (likely all commonwealth nations) they are called Swedes, not Rutabagas.

Narration by Aida-Maria Boiesan is good. Despite the large amount of lists you never feel lost or overwhelmed. She is well paced and easy to follow.

Dinner on a Dime. Well, maybe not that cheap.

This gives the basics for running a home kitchen on a budget. There are a lot of helps for the starting homemaker or college student out on their own for the first time as to what to buy to stock a pantry but there were not any base recipes from which to start as you cook in a budget. There was however a PDF that you could easily use as a shopping list if you needed for the "staples" while shopping. The narrator did her best to liven up a fairly mundane topic or she is really excited about onions. It is exactly as it says, strategies that save money, mostly through shopping. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
