Publisher's summary

The eagerly awaited new audiobook from the Emmy-winning, Oscar-hosting, Daily Show-anchoring Jon Stewart - the man behind the mega seller America (The Book).

Where do we come from? Who created us? Why are we here? These questions have puzzled us since the dawn of time, but when it became apparent to Jon Stewart and the writers of The Daily Show that the world was about to end, they embarked on a massive mission to write a book that summed up the human race: What we looked like; what we accomplished; our achievements in society, government, religion, science and culture.

After two weeks of hard work, they had their book. Earth (The Book) is the definitive guide to our species. With their trademark wit, irreverence, and intelligence, Stewart and his team will posthumously answer all of life's most hard-hitting questions, completely unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity, or even accuracy.

ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!

This book will have you laughing from start to finish! It's satire at it's finest. Jon Stewart's sardonic wit makes every day observations absolutely hilarious whether it be Caligula's bucket list or the definition of society and the wackiness of the social contract.. modern man will kill you for timber...

Great book! I laughed and I learned!

Like in "the Daily Show" Jon manages to tell a lot of informational and revealing stuff about us humans at the same time! :-)

Light, funny, satirical human history

Jon and the group nailed it. This is an easy listen. Intriguing and lighthearted, and got me laughing.

As always, Jon Stewart is worth a listen

A Treat for Daily Show Fans

Presented as an introductory guide to a vanished human race for the benefit of visiting aliens, "Earth" is a perceptive, tightly written, awfully clever survey of mankind's whole history. It's especially good at leaving unsaid the best punchlines, which immediately form in the listener's mind. With help from others, it is nonetheless mostly the voice of Jon Stewart who--freed from the rather more frantic persona of his TV show--is a skilled and expressive narrator. It's a joy to hear.

Humorous, but not ROFL

Would you try another book from Jon Stewart and/or the narrators?

Yes, I would try another book by Jon Stewart. I would also really like to hear more recorded sketches performed by his players, like Samantha Bee, John Oliver, and Jason Jones.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The premise of this audio book is that it was specifically crafted for a future alien race to discover long after humanity's demise. The concept is clever, and the anecdotes Stewart chooses to include are spot on, revealing both humanity's shining achievements and its miserable failures.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

I really enjoy Jon Stewart's voice and inflection, which is sure to bring a smile or two. Samantha Bee was deliciously witty and sarcastic, and John Oliver's pompous British tirades were as smart as they were jolly.

Hilarious and Poignant

Stewart and company have crafted a loving, mocking, terrifying, and honest look at civilization, society, and the human experience. The sections on flora and fauna are similarly clever and the execution, especially the constant interjection of recognizable Daily Show alumni, is peerless. Among the best comedy audiobooks you'll have the pleasure to enjoy.
