Publisher's summary

Jonas needs Tate. He just doesn't know it yet.

Or at least he doesn't want to admit it. Because there is no way Jonas Ashcroft is gay. He's a straight, carefree frat boy player, just like any good son of a conservative state senator. If only his struggle to convince everyone - especially himself - didn't leave him so miserable. No matter how many girls or bottles he drowns himself in, Jonas can neither escape nor accept who he is.

Enter Tate. He's smart and confident and instantly sees right through Jonas' surly exterior. Sure, he's done things in life he's not proud of, but he knows who he is and what he wants. And what he wants is Jonas. As their easy friendship intensifies into something more, Tate introduces Jonas to a life he's never known. One filled with acceptance and sex and a love that terrifies and excites them both.

But some inner demons refuse to be shaken off so easily. When Jonas' old life barges in, he faces a shattering choice, one that could destroy everything he and Tate have fought so hard for. Sometimes love just isn't enough - and sometimes it's exactly what you need.

Heart warming YA.

I look forward to listening to this book each day, as it was delightfully performed about young men coming to an understanding of themselves and people helping teens and young adults. The young adult male characters had some graphic sex, but it wasn’t overwhelming the book. Overall tastefully done and showed love

Great start to series!

I was a little skeptical to listen to this book because of some of the negative reviews I read but I was happy to say for me along with A.M. Arthur's other book series I have read, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was happy when Jonas finally developed a bone bone with his father, I was cheering him on! 👍 All in all a feel good read in regards to Tate and Jonas's budding relationship, yes had some low drama but it kept the book interesting without tears.

Good read.

You know, when you choose a book you never know if it's going to be one that either grips you and drags you in whole heartedly or you struggle to make it through it. Well this one grabbed me feet first and I was lost in each character as if they were sitting right in front of me. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found myself having to force myself to put it down so I could go to sleep. I love a story of a friendship that blossoms into love and a life that is set free to live the way it was meant to be. The narrator did an awesome job with each character and relayed all the emotions needed and felt in every situation. Thanks to the author for such a heart felt story.

Good Story

A story that hits close to the heart for me, maybe not the same circumstances but the coming to terms with who I was was difficult. Narrator is awesome, and the story is easy to follow and very good.

A simple feel-good read.

A. M. Arthur writes as if she knows her way around the male mind. That is no small accomplishment. Many female writers of male to male romance don’t seem to have a clue about the sometimes bizzarro world of the male psyche. What is equally worse is that they often get the physicality of male romance all wrong when they create the gay male version of the straight lover that their female readers would want to have. There were only a few times when Miss Arthur fell into the use of the romantic fiction tropes so often overused by female writers of gay male romance.

The trick is to keep it simple as that best reflects the most common mentality of a twenty-something gay male. Ms. Arthur does that and still is able to create characters that are compelling and fun to hang out with.

It is a good story and it is the first in a three-book series. I very much look forward to reading me to others.

Remember reading this, but forgot all the details

...and so I'm thinking it couldn't have been a 5-star (great) read. A 5-star read is, by my definition, unforgettable.

But I know "Come What May" was not bad, I certainly would have remembered that! I had been waffling for a long time about whether to purchase it until finally just doing it. (It was the cover and the sample that sold me).

I read the whole book, so I must have gotten into it.
But now... I can't recall at all the details or how they played out and how it ended. No spoilers. hahaha
So I'm thinking it must have been above average. Just not great. And thus... 4-stars

The reader is great. The plot is a good one.

It is your basic guy who is gay, basically knows it but doesn't come out until some crisis in his life forces him to want to live, and he thinks their is a chance that he can. I really like the characters and the writing, but the author just makes it all to simple at times. Surely the sex was great, the love and romance was good, and the bad guy homophobes were all present, but maybe it felt a little to formula at times. That took away from believing it at times, but there was enough realism to get me crying at times.
