Publisher's summary
Jack's a retired ex-cop from New York, seeking the simple life in Cherringham. Sarah's a Web designer who's moved back to the village to find herself. But their lives are anything but quiet as the two team up to solve Cherringham's criminal mysteries. This compilation contains episodes 19 - 21:
GHOST OF A CHANCE
Every Halloween, the supposedly haunted Bell Hotel hosts its famous 'Ghost-Hunters Dinner', complete with scary stories, spooky apparitions and things that go bump in the night. But this year's event ends in a terrifying accident, and suddenly everyone wonders... Is there a real ghost loose in the hotel? Jack and Sarah are convinced that the culprit must be human: who would want bad things to happen at the classic hotel? But soon they're forced to confront their own superstitions as they find themselves on the trail of an unsolved Victorian murder...
FOLLOW THE MONEY
Claire and Terry Goodman seem to have everything. Successful business. Son at Oxford. New mansion right on the River Thames. And seemingly... plenty of money to spend. But when Jack and Sarah are asked to investigate an odd robbery at their home, secrets start to emerge. And as the truth is revealed, for someone it will be too much to bear, and murder may be the only way out.
MURDER MOST WILD
When the Zakro Corporation attempts to build a mammoth supermarket outside Cherringham, the whole village is up in arms. But the accidental death of the lead environmentalist, Sam Lewis seems to hand victory to the developers. Could Sam's opposition to the project be the real reason he died? When Jack and Sarah take on the case, they will learn that what was an accident was - in fact - one very wild murder.
Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

When a body is hauled from the River Tyne, Sarah Tucker heads to Newcastle for a closer look. She identifies the dead woman as Private Detective Zoë Boehm, but putting a name to the corpse only raises further questions. Did Zoë kill herself, or did one of her old cases come back to haunt her? Coincidence is an excuse that soon appears pretty unconvincing. Sarah can’t leave until she’s found the answers to her questions, however dangerous they might turn out to be.

Uttered by the abusive father of a nine-year-old girl, that phrase ended Jack’s career as a police negotiator and has been haunting him ever since. Now that he is a struggling private detective, those words return with a vengeance when he inherits a mansion - and some terrifying information. Apparently Jack’s soul was sold at birth, and a devil will come to claim it on his thirty-third birthday just weeks away. It’s a hard pill to swallow, given that Jack doesn’t believe in hell (heaven, either).

Story
On the night of the school prom, a young teacher is found dead in the Thames in a drug-related accident. It seems - at first - to be another sign that Cherringham High is spiralling out of control. The new head however is convinced that the teacher's death is suspicious and quietly calls in Sarah Edwards. With her one-time detective partner, Jack Brennan, back in America, Sarah is at first reluctant to take on the case. But when she does get involved, it soon becomes clear that the tragic accident might really be a case of murder - and even Sarah herself could be in danger.

They are at it again!
Great books! I have enjoyed them ALL.
Once again I almost bought the next book in German. which I do not speak fluently at all! I actually bought one by accident already. Be careful that you look closely when you buy. They look Very similar!

No fluff
I love being able to enjoy a pure mystery without having to worry about annoying relationships, characters, the dicey language. I can listen to this in my car an enjoy my short commute.

Love this series
I'm enjoying this series - each book is unique, creative and well thought out. Wish there was a TV series featuring Jack and Sarah, and the kids and the pup~

I just love this series!
I can't stop listening to these stories, I hope they are still being written because I'll be really sad when I get to the end. of course I'll have to listen all over again.
The narration is good, sometimes it's a little melodramatic like an old time radio series, that's makes it more interesting. The main characters are likable and realistic.
The individual episodes are show enough to finish in one sitting, so you can draw it out or binge. Very enjoyable.

These are like potato chips: you can't stop at one
This is my default series: after I've had an involved, emotional or taxing listen, I turn to Cherringham for
the comfort of a great little series with an impeccable narrator. These aren't world shaking but just good
storytelling with unique characters, and an unflappable duo of crime solvers. As Oliver Twist said: "More please!"

Hate to see Cheringham end!
These traditional English village mysteries have been my go to audiobooks for 21 episodes. Each audiobook contains 3 episodes of roughly 2.5 hours each. The narrator is pitch perfect in all the voices, including retired American NYC detective Jack and his friend and co-investigator, single Mom Sarah. The village characters and a variety of murders and other mysteries keep each one fresh. I think these Episodes 18-21 are the last of the main set. There is at least one additional Christmas story. I hate to see the series end!! Five stars all the way.
