Publisher's Summary

Professional wallflower Nicole Andrews can’t wait to get out of Marlowe Junction. With only one year to go, she is eager to become the best college applicant at Rosemark High.

There’s only one problem: She still hasn’t found a niche to make her appear more well-rounded.

When a chance encounter with hottie-extraordinaire Chase Saunders pushes her in the direction of cross-country, Nicole thinks she’s finally found her answer. If only she could focus on her race times and stop getting distracted by Chase.

Will joining the team be enough to make Nicole stand out from the crowd? Or will she lose her heart in the process?

A throwback to the early 2000s, Chasing Love will have you longing for the days when Blockbuster was the coolest job in town and varsity letters were prized possessions. Back to when Friday nights were made for football games and sleepovers with the friends for whom you’d do anything.

A nostalgic look back to high school years

I still remember going with my high-school friends to Blockbuster, borrowing a movie and spending a fun night with them, just hanging out. This book brought me back to that time. Nicole is a high school senior who is not considered part of the popular group (self professed). She meets Chase, who is now in college but was in the same school as her- but never knew her, again highlighting (to her) how unpopular and unmemorable she is. But Chase and she spend a lot of time together, as he starts working at Blockbuster, where she's a manager, and he also convinces her to join the track team, where he's an assistant coach. A few themes are seen through this book. Nicole's growth is fantastic- she develops confidence, recognizes her true worth and also, expands her horizons to find new interests. Chase helps but I do think that this book really is a testament to Nicole's maturing through a difficult year. There's a minor love triangle within the story but it's not that compelling- I think it's clear where Nicole's love lies. And the supporting cast, especially Amy, is pretty good. I liked this look back into high school.

The narrator was good. She has a very young voice which fits the character perfectly. And she did a good job delineating between characters when there were multiple people in a chapter. It was a good read and a good listen.

Super cute and enjoyable YA novel perfect 4 teens!

Chasing Love, Mountain Creek Drive Book 3 by Kayla Tirrell was an excellent YA novel dealing with 17 year old social outcast Nicole meeting the cute older boy and finding her own sudden popularity at school and in Cross Country, which she ends up joining at a friends recommendation. There's catty girls, jerky guys who act nice but have ulterior motives, the one perfect guy that she may or may not end up with, best friends, new friends, etc. Think She's All That. It's a cute, innocent, entertaining listen. Is this book one that I would seek out the entire series as a 39 year old woman? No. It's super cute but geared for the YA crowd. I'm perfectly happy to have read it though, as I can definitely recommend it to others, especially in the teen crowd.

Kaye Anderson did a great job narrating Chasing Love. Her voice was perfect for portraying an almost 18 year old girl in high school. I would definitely listen to more stories narrated by her. She handled both the male and female voices well and brought life and emotion to the characters. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Chasing Love

This author was new to me. The author had me having some trips down memory lane. The good crushing on a guy forever and then he notices you. OMG. Finding your first everything is amazing. The narrator had me chuckling in spots. I must go back and get the other two books in this series.

Sweet & Fun YA

Reading a series from the ending (started with book 3) threw me off a bit. It made me want to know more abou the additional characters in the story, but it didn't take away from the story.

Chasing Love is a YA story that talks about one finding themselves and sorting it all out while finding LOVE! It makes you reminence about the past and it makes you look forward to the future.

Nicole meets Chase in an embarrasing situation! She has to try to save some composure but Chase makes it easy. He seems like an average guy and doesn't realize how many see him.

Their story progresses into a sweet & fun story. It lets you think back to the days when life was simple, and you didn't sit in front of a computer all day. You get to know the characters and the life around them.
The narrators brought the story to life and they made the story fun!
I will definitely be reading the entire series!

Super cute YA 📼🍿

This story was super sweet. Took me back to my high school years. I loved the nostalgic feel I had every time they were in blockbuster or when they chatted over AIM. I definitely recommend this book for those of you wishing to go back! The audio was great. The narrator did a great job of bringing you into the story.

Let this great audio chase you

This is a great YA romance. It reminds you what we went through as young adults. It brings back insecurity that we had growing up. What we went through growing out of children thoughts and trying to make things right . This story brought back a young girls trying to fit in. How Nicole is a senior at school , but is not very popular. Nicole is what in the 1700 they call a wall flower . Nicole doesn’t feel comfortable around boys , until she starts hanging out with Chase .
Chase was a senior lady yr and now he’s a assistance coach at Track . This story brings me back to my memories, in the 80s rollerblading and 90s music Where there was bluckbuster renting of movies .
Love how Nicole grew as a person

Kaye performance good. Her voice is strong , clear and steady she and did all the characters great

4.5 Wonderful Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I loved everything about this book, the characters, the storyline down to the setting, a throwback to the early 2000’s when renting videos at Blockbuster was a thing and cell phone use a novelty. Kayla Tirrell skillfully created a realistic & relatable story of how it was like for many back when they were in High School. Wonderful character development here, adolescents struggling to find themselves and eventually grow in to their own. This is the first book I have read from this author and it will not be my last. It is part of the “Mountain Creek Drive Series” but can be enjoyed as a standalone. I had not read the 1st two books and do not feel like I missed anything in this story. I recommend this book for any adult, young and old, especially great for those feeling a little nostalgia, it really captures the essence of time. Kayla Tirrell thank you for the great read!

Kaye Anderson does a wonderful job narrating the story and bringing the characters and story to life. She performed the voices of all the different characters, switching back & forth effortlessly keeping the story in a perfect flow Thank you for the great listen.

Sweet story seemed second in series (vs. third)

This is a sweet story. It is probably still in the PG range, though there is a reference to hotel rooms after a dance that might prompt some questions from my elementary-age child. The references to popular things from the early 2000s were cute.

I haven't read the first book in the series, but I have read/listened to the second one. I would actually recommend reading this one as the second in the series as the events in this book took place before most of the events in Leah's Song. There are zero spoilers in this book for Leah's song, but there's kind of a spoiler for this one in Leah's Song. Chasing Love could also be read as a stand alone, although I think the characters in this book may overlap more with the first in the series. I can't say for sure, but it seemed like Chasing Love contained references to events in the first book.

Kaye Anderson did a really good job with this one, especially with high school/college age characters.

Get Ready to #TBT

If you were a late 80's /early 90's baby, get ready to reminisce with some of these references. I'm old enough to remember many of the time period references but young enough to have only experienced a few. Taking us back to that time period was such a fun feature of this story and the familiarity of these references really helps us appreciate and relate to Nicole's situation on a whole different level. I like how the author includes an usual sport like cross country as the central sport of the story, it's unique and brings a different element. Nicole is a strong character and is very well written. I love how the author inches Nicole and Chase together and how their relationship developes throughout the book. Love it.

The narrator was absolutely perfect for this story and did an amazing job bringing out the excitement, angst, and devastation.

what a great story

I loved the 80's and 90's, and this book sure took me back. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It's a sweet ya book, and one many of us can relate to back in our high school days... Nicole crushing on Chase, an older boy. The narration was pretty good too. It's a great story, very fun to listen to, and brings back memories and feelings from long ago.

cute romance

I have not read or listened to this author before but I enjoyed this story. It is cute. It was an easy and quick listen. I thought parts of the plot were very predictable but many romances are. The narrator was ok for me. I might listen/read the other books in this series. I think other people would enjoy this book more than I did. If you are looking for a quick easy listen/read then this is the book for you.
