Publisher's Summary

Just the sight of Dustin Nikoli spiked fear in my heart. The memories of the things that he had put me through in high school made me want to run in the other direction. I was the dirt on the bottom of his shoes, my only purpose someone for him to torment.

No one else saw it. To his peers, he was a man's man. To all of the girls unaffected by his cruelty, a lust object. He was the hottest *sshole you could ever meet. Pretty face. Amazing body. Ugly on the inside.

I moved to another city for college to avoid him. I never expected that he would already be there. Maybe I should have done my research better.

The night that I ran into him couldn't have been any worse. He was the straw that broke the camel's back. I wasn't taking his crap anymore, though. I used my inebriation to give me courage and told him everything I thought about him. And then I ended up in his bed....

This is a stand-alone novel.

Not necessarily a bully but............

So the first chapter starts off with Brenna talking about highschool and her love for a boy named Bobby. Her obsession with him and everything he does is a little bit crazy but I went with it. Not once in the beginning is mention of a bully named Dustin.

Brenna ends up following her crush Bobby to the college of his choice away from home (not weird right). One night when going to a party she runs into Dustin and that is the first mention of this bully from the title and synopsis. Through out the story she emphasizes how much Dustin hurt her in high school and how mean he was to her but we didn't have any experience with that to build on so it was kind of empty.

The story does not match the blurb but I still didn't hate it. Brenna was a bit immature but the story kept my attention and I was fine with the way it ended.

Brenna and Dustin!

Brenna has been friends with Bobby since they were children however she wants more. When he breaks up with his girlfriend she thinks this is the chance she has been waiting for and decides to attend the same college but she soon finds out it is not meant to be.

Dustin is attending the same college as well. He bullied her all through high school and he is the last person she wants to see. He seems to have a habit of rescuing her from the worst situations, but has he really changed, or will he revert to his old ways when she least expects it?

Brenna could drive you crazy at times as she couldn’t see what was in front of her face in regards to both Bobby and Dustin. I really liked how Dustin’s character developed throughout the story. I thought the narrator did a good job at bringing the characters to life. I voluntarily reviewed an audio copy of this book from the narrator.

High School Crush and Tormentor Continue Into College

Brenna has crushed on her friend from high school for 4 years and follows him to his college....where he suddenly acts like a different person.
Also going to her college is the jock tormentor from high school, who also acts like a different person from time to time.
Brenna is so stuck on her high school crush she almost ruins her chances to make friends and have a good experience.
Angst, anger, hopes dashed, hopes renewed, learning to adjust and learning everyone isn’t who you think they are.
Other then wanting to shake Brenna to open her eyes it was an entertaining story...she just took a little too,long..plus would have loved to know what Dustin was thinking.
Narrator did good job, appreciated her job.

Bully review...

Wasn’t sure where this one was going after a really long, rambling first chapter. Almost lost me, but I hung on and am glad I did. Good story and narrator is very talented for both male and female characters. A couple of life lessons to boot!

An Unexpected Romance with Great Characters

Bobby is the man. The best man, or really dream man as far as Brenna is considered. Dustin is a jock who bullied her. But we don't stay who we were in high school, and it's wonderful to see just who Brenna and Dustin are as they get to know each other. The best part is letting the love story reveal just what's happened between Bobby, Brenna and Dustin. A truly touching romance with great characters.

Cute coming of age with HEA

Good college story. Doesn’t really give a background of him being a bully to Breena so it doesn’t really make sense. Good story for a rainy day.

Not really a Bad Boy Romance at all

First of all, I must say that I am a fan of Sky Corgan's books, but this one was 'off'. First of all, it's advertised as a "Bad Boy Romance" where the BULLY of the book actually only exists in memories. Furthermore, this is WAY too Young Adult for my tastes. We're in the mind of a young college freshman's mind; new to parties and drinking - one obsessed with boys and who uses the word 'crush'. There were times I was rolling my eyes so hard that I wanted to turn it off. Sorry, Sky - you missed the mark on this one,

Unexpectedly loved it

I was hesitant after reading the reviews of others but holy cow I loved it. I listened in one day and can see myself listening again. The 3 main characters are relatable and done in a way that keeps you listening and wanting to figure out the ending you know is coming is going to happen. The narrator did a great job and I can't wait to hear more from her.

My Thoughts on Bully

So this book started a little rough for me. I read the synopsis and had an idea what direction I thought the book would head. But it went so completely different. Not that that necessarily has to be a bad thing, but I was certainly expecting to hear about Dustin way earlier in the story then I did. I expected actual details of the torment. I expected to read about and get a real feel for the foundation on which our leading lady, Brenna's dislike was formed. But I honestly never really felt like I got that. I just got mentions of it and how bad it was, no details or specifics. So in all honesty I was a bit disappointed with that because I never really got to understand the issues between the two main characters.

Then there was the fact that there was this other character that I felt was a pretty important one in the story, especially for Brenna, but I had no idea he would be so important. And again, if I'm being honest, I disliked him more than Dustin from the very beginning.

But then there were all these other really good aspects of the book. The message regarding the devastation bullying can cause. The dangers that can arise from college parties and the need to be careful at them. The growth of the characters. The romance that builds subtly. All of these things were really enjoyable for me. And that's why it got 3 stars for me.

The narrator on this one was really good as well. She pulled off college angst and drama quite well and was easy to listen to.

BEWARE THE BULLY

Be careful what you ask for, they say. Being 50 now, it drives me crazy to hear (in real life or in fictional setting) girls acting young/stupid crazy in love, but hell I did the same exact thing when I was that age. You learn by experience. So, taking that info consideration, I found myself immersed in the story, wondering who at times to root for. I always root for love. Loved the story, and the narration. :)
