Spicy Romcom with all sorts of awkardness & cuteness

Hannah is a virgin who is desperate for a job and ends up working at a phone sex line.
Dom is a detective. Who happens to be investigating multiple murders correlating with the Ruby line Hannah is now running at Call Me Anytime.
Hannah is mortified when Dom and his partner spend their days listening to a wire tap on her phone line. As they are forced to spend time together, Hannah and Dom begin to build an unexpected relationship. Hannah is an independent woman who has been supporting her mom and her declining health for years. She struggles with asking for and accepting help. Dom takes it upon himself to help alleviate some of Hannah’s financial struggles. He comes to realize, he struggles with knowing when he has crossed a line.

This is a slow burn romance. The real life struggles are believable and heart breaking. Max Monroe do a great job portraying dementia and Alzheimer’s. The sweet moments between Dom’s family and Hannah’s mom were so sweet. The murder mystery aspect of this story adds a 3rd dimension to this story, that I really enjoyed.
Lee Samuels And Summer Morton were perfect to narrate these characters!

Heavy topics, but a great story

I wanted to read this because I have heard a lot of things about it, and the fact that Hannah's mom has Alzheimer's. Since I lost my father to that horrible disease earlier this year, it always resonates with me.
It's a romance/rom-com/adult romance with a crime case thrown in. There was decent banter, and the characters were all pretty good.
I'm looking forward to reading more about them in upcoming books.

Pleasantly surprised

Laughed out loud in the beginning. Drawn in by the mystery. Stay engaged due to a strong MMC. I devoured it in two days. Enjoyable read.

Hilarious and Heartfelt

Though this book comes with a healthy helping of secondhand embarrassment (Hannah May truly is the worst phone s*x operator in the history of the world), it was, nonetheless, an absolute delight.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book, but I actually loved it for the most part. Hannah and Dominic are both very likable, and I loved getting to see them in various relationships outside of their romance. Hannah’s connection to Lovie, for instance, or Dom’s careful kindness toward Sherry—the relationships in this book were a real standout. Obviously the romance between the MCs is a highlight, but even that somewhat surprised me (watching Dom fall head over heels for Hannah was supremely satisfying).

The “suspense”/mystery plot was actually better than I expected, though there were intervals where it really fell out of focus. Despite the slight inconsistency, there were some good “red herrings” and just enough intrigue to keep it interesting.

I will say, with all the external conflicts at work, the third-act “drama” felt both superfluous and underdeveloped. It sort of felt like a last-ditch attempt to show that the MCs could overcome conflict together (and to set up the denouement of the mystery plot), but it didn’t seem at all necessary.

On the whole, I did thoroughly enjoy this book—the audiobook was hysterical, if occasionally cringe-inducing—even despite my few frustrations with it. I’m sort of holding out hope that there might be another book wherein Shane gets waylaid by his own romance, but in the meantime, I’ll be keeping this one in mind for times when I need an engaging story and some solid laughs along the way.

Laugh out loud fun

Hannah is something else y'all. I don't even know how to explain her because she is so unserious, yet completely serious at the same time. The things that came out of this woman's mouth literally had me HOWLING. I definitely picked up some new every day sayings. 🤣 meep meep

And Dom was the best. Seriously, he's the most caring and selfless man. The things he did for Hannah and her mother were so precious.

This book was an absolute trip, the audio was PHENOMENAL. Lee & Summer brought this book to life in every single way! I'm literally obsessed and already want to listen again!
