How good are you at keeping a secret?

Because I, Juniper Perry, have been keeping a big one.

For over a decade, I’ve been crushing on the guy with the easy smile, warm brown eyes, and charismatic charm. He’s all the perfect things that, when you add them up, spell out Man of my dreams.

I know that doesn’t sound bad at all, but there’s more to this story…

We work together. I’m a lowly intern, and he’s a high-powered executive.

He’s my newest neighbor. No joke—he’s temporarily living next door to me.

And to top it all off, he’s my best friend’s older brother.

I’ve spent what feels like an eternity keeping my crush on him a secret, but recently, I’ve found a way to have him and my anonymity too. A way to chat and flirt and get close to him.

My best friend doesn’t know about these Midnight chats.

And he doesn’t know I’m the girl he’s talking to night after night.

Beau Banks might be completely off-limits, but what happens at Midnight stays between us…

Loved the book except for Avery. I didn’t like a single thing about her. Liked Bo and Avery’s parents though.

Enjoyable

I thought that it was great without too much sexual. It reminds me of Jane Austen but in the future.

Cute like Jane Austen

Meet Me At Midnight by Max Monroe. This is my seventh book by Max Monroe and I’m never disappointed. Beau and June have been in each other’s lives since she became best friends with his sister. She has had a crush on him for years, but her insecurities have kept her from saying anything. Beau has always been nice to her, but viewed her as a sister. Now, they work together and she contacts him on an app the company is trying to win. She also hopes that she will be able to have him in a way she never has. As they communicate via the app, they both know it could blow up in their faces, but they can’t stop. I loved how they got to know each other on a deeper level, without ever seeing each other or the stress of outside influences. The one wrench in their dating (once he learns who she is) the fact they’ve been lying to everyone, especially his sister/her best friend. Their relationship was actually really sweet and near the end my heart was breaking for both. His grand gesture, one that he does at work, using what started their relationship, is fantastic. I highly recommend this book.

Secret Best Friend’s Brother Crush

I hated every character in this book, except the two main characters, Juniper and Bo. even they had their issues. Avery is the worst. I wanted to drop kick her the whole book. I didn't like her for a single second. she was the most insufferable character. and the parents...they were nice, but the way they raised Avery was unacceptable and the way everyone just let her be that way and just laughed and let her get away with everything. gah. I almost DNF this book so many times, but I got through it.

the narrators... CJ Bloom was fine. she isn't my favorite but she was fine and had emotion and inflection. the male narrator was a mistake. he read way to fast and had hardly any real emotion, other than frat party boy. he was cringy and just a mistake. he sounded like he was reading for a commercial instead of acting out a book. he had a great voice and had so much potential but it was a no from me.

the writing... this could have been written by a high schooler. it didn't have very much depth, the characters were shallow and unlikable, the conflict was unnecessary and contrived. it had so much potential.

overall, this wasn't a very good book. I was disappointed. if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have gotten this book.

wow, not in a good way
