This audiobook is full of pieces of advice to keep both clients and freelancers safe on Upwork. Even the title alone shows that. Get your own copy and learn on how to avoid the pitfalls.

Below I will enumerate those pieces of advice for your perusal and necessary action.

1. Tenacity was seen in the character of the author. This book showed me that as one of Upwork clients, it will now be easy for me to report any malpractice. However, if I in return, have a good job done by a freelancer, the same good rating needs to come from me. It’s the scene of one good turn deservers another.

2. Do not charge too low, for it’s better to over-charge and negotiate the price than charging low and suffering indecision throughout the process.

3. Consider Upwork fee, in your charging. Choose a comfortable payment option. Big brother is watching you in your transaction on this freelancer platform.

4. Control your income: competent financial planning is the key and know that there is the 2-week financial pause before you can claim your payment after any job completion.

5. Manage your time: many of us failed to notice that time is the precious commodity just like the perishable goods. Once it is not well managed, or gone, it will never be recovered.

6. Google calendar can serve as a pipeline minister in your every day activity. You know what you are doing. Work on that alone. In short, be a responsible adult. Work, just work and play later if you have a free time.

7. Eliminate distraction. Social networks are full of distractions. Whenever you have a job to carry out. Stay away from any social media distraction.

8. If you ever read the terms of service carefully, very few of us will falter in our dealings on this Upwork platform. Just a simple mistake can cause your account to be blocked. Sign a contract out of Upwork, beware of scams. Scammers can create fake projects. Pay attention to their emails. If you agree to be pay off your Upwork account. You will be duped.

9. Scammers send links containing virus. The key logger. Ukrainian freelancers: Let’s not judge. Scammers can direct you to a fake logging page. Never give out your personal account information just like that. You have to be extremely conscious if a client invite you to have an interview of google hangout. Take note that asking for free work on the Upwork is against the rules.

Very interesting overall

The book is very short, but I still learned about a few things I hadn't heard before. Worth getting!!

Very informative

I found this very informative. Very well laid out. Narration was good to listen to.

poor performance, decent story

This is one of those books that I would have enjoyed more in print. One of the big make or break things is the narration, and I hate to say it, but this performance was terrible. When he read website addresses, he was awkward and stiff. I found myself getting sidetracked multiple times, never a good sign for an audiobook. It's not the subject matter either, I took many business classes in college, quite a few I didn't particularly care for, but still managed to learn something of value.

As far as the content goes, it's good, but very basic. When they say beginner, they mean someone who has no knowledge of business at all. If you've done the most basic of reading into freelance work, you already know this. Unless you've never been on the Upwork site, never looked up freelancing, you likely know at least half of what's covered in the book. The tips are good, generally easy to act on though, so I give the story itself three stars.

I would recommend this book - in print. If you're picky at all about narrators, this book is not for you.
