Publisher's summary

Only one man and one woman can stop the world from burning in this thrilling final volume in Lisa Marie Rice’s sexy Ghost Ops series, in which an elite super-secret military team must face down doomsday and protect the gifted women they love.

Haven, a community of misfits and geniuses, is one of the few safe places remaining in a world on fire. Run by the Ghost Ops team, three dangerous, fearless, soldiers who were once betrayed and disgraced will fiercely protect their country and the women they adore from a deadly plague that has turned people into violent monsters.

Beautiful brilliant Dr. Sophie Daniels is trapped in her home with the only antidote to the plague. Former Ghost Ops elite operative Jon Ryan is sent on a suicide rescue mission, brutally fighting his way to her side. Together they must cross treacherous terrain before they can return to Haven. But for them to succeed, Sophie must trust this tormented soul and place her life, and her heart, in his hands.

Years of combat training has prepared Jon for this moment. Unafraid, nothing is too dangerous now that he’s found Sophie. He will risk everything, fight anyone, for her and a future filled with hope and love.

Exciting Thrilling

Story starts kinda slow. But once it gets moving, hang on to your hats. Enjoy a great read / listen !

Wow...to be caught in that!

With a heavy heart, I will be reviewing this final installment of the Ghost Ops series. Yes, I know I am a dork...lol

I have enjoyed this series from book one. It is an interesting mix of Military, Romance and Paranormal. Lisa Marie Rice has done a great job with this series. Her writing and concept is interesting and keeps your attention from the start.

Once I started with this book, I didn't want to stop listening! The story was scary, creepy and had amazing detail! The camaraderie and human spirit of the characters is uplifting.

I was disappointed that Seraphine wasn't reading this book, however Kaleo Griffith didn't do a bad job. He is a good narrator however, Seraphine was a better fit for this series.

Likeable but not loveable

I loved the first two books in this trilogy and was so looking forward to this final book. Sadly, it was rather lackluster. It is a likeable book just not a loveable book. Absolutely no complaints about Kaleo Griffith's narration.

3.5 Stars Good but Not As Good As The Rest

This was a nice finish to the series, I was really looking forward to the zombie outbreak and was satisfied with how it played out. There was perhaps a little less romance in this book and the insta-sex/love was not for me. I was also fairly satisfied with the ending. While this might not be my favorite Lisa Marie Rice novel, the plot was a bit farfetched but it was a fun read and a good conclusion to the series. I really questioned was why the vaccinations were not used on Jon and Sophie that part really baffeld me.

Kaleo Griffith was really good the delivery of the story.

Completely unexpected & hair-raising turn

After reading the first two books about these exceptional men and world they created for others like them, I had zero inkling or foreshadowing of the turn this third and final book would take. Nor would I ever have expected the sheer breath-taking opening, the meeting of the two leads, nor the rollercoaster ride to the end.

I'm not going to give anything away so when you read it you'll be gobsmacked as I was. Its another book from this series that I will not soon forget. I'm a veteran reader in this genre, reading and listening to 400 books a year, so you will appreciate my delight in not anticipating any of the turns Rice took in this book. It saddens and perplexes me that this is billed as the final book of the series since there were so many other stories to be told. But we do get to visit in with the other fledgling couples from the first two books as well as see closure in some of the other characters stories in a most satisfying way.

One of the cool things about Rice is the good technical research she does compared to other top authors. All three of the female leads in these books are all research scientists and Rice will draw you in to disease etiology, vectors, transmission, and other epidemiological issues in a way that is engrossing but doesn't alienate or bore those of us non-medical types. Our female heros are uber feminine but strong, steadfast with no cracking under pressure, no screaming, swooning or other antics of old-fashioned romance. They are as much the heros as their swoon-worthy alpha dudes.

How's that for a refreshing change of pace!
The performance was very good. I really enjoyed Kaleo Griffith in Pamela Clare's I-team series, so it was wonderful to hear his honey-like mellifluous tones in this one. He's gotten much better at his military pronunciations too. Excellent pairing.
Read the series and definitely this book. Its excellent.

WHAT HAPPENED?..... SADLY, NOT HER BEST WORK

I loved the other two books in this series and was so looking forward to this final book but sadly it was more of a pop than a bang of a finale.

Instant sex (literally), instant love, a race against time to get the vaccine to Haven, a few dramatic encounters with 'the infected' and a wrap it all up in a 'they all lived HEA' of an Epilogue ending.

Worth a credit? I didn't really feel any chemistry between the H/H, the build-up to the romance was totally missing and, although there were sex scenes, it failed to ignite any passion. I wanted to see how things ended for the men of the Ghost Ops but unfortunately I feel I wasted a credit on this. The Narration was good but, IMHO, even that didn't save it.

One of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to by far!

This trilogy is by one of my all time favorite authors, Lisa Marie Rice! The story is set slightly in the future, around the mid 2020’s. The heroine is a neurobiologist who is working for a company named Arka Pharmaceuticals, which is run by a really sinister Chinese guy named Dr Lee. Lee is a great villain and quite a believable character in today’s world. When Catherine discovers a horrible secret about the project she’s been working on, she is so compelled to do what her patient is thinking that she sets off in a snowstorm. You see, there’s something very unusual about Catherine that no one knows. When her car is hit by an EMP burst high in the mountains, she’s rescued by a hostile military looking man in body armor. Though she’s thankful she’s not going to freeze to death, she’s terrified at what’s happening.
Then we come to the three heroes of this trilogy; MAC, Nick and John. They are hiding from the government for a crime they didn’t commit. I really don’t want to give away the story, but I can tell you it’s fast paced, sexy and suspenseful. The relationships of the main characters of Mac and Catherine is the focus of the first book. Can a jaded, scarred and burden laden former spec ops soldier fall in love with a nerdy yet beautiful scientist? Narration was done exceptionally well! I highly recommend this hot series to any romance fans.

What the f*ck??

This was my first trilogy by the author; I won’t make the same mistake twice. We went from paramilitary to the walking dead. I won’t waste my time with listing the holes left in the story. The first two books are great but for the love of God stay away from the last one...a real suck-fest. Thank you miss rice for wasting 9 hours of my life I will never get back and wasted credit.
