Publisher's Summary

The unexpected arrival of a new apprentice jockey at his father's racing stables heralds the beginning of a series of dark happenings for Neil Griffon. First his father suffers a grisly accident, then Neil is brutally assaulted and abducted. The price for his freedom will mean the betrayal and deception of those who trust Griffon most. But he has no choice: a no-compromise crime czar has made an ultimatum - that his own 18-year-old son be hired by Griffon's stables to ride the superstar horse, Archangel, in the Derby. And the young man must be trained to win. Or else….

Another cracker of a story by DF

I like the way every one of DF’s stories are different, entertaining, and suspenseful but they all have a moral - rare these days
And l love Tony Britton’s voice!
Not to mention his reading and interpretation.

A gripping story well read

I loved the reading: Tony Britten has perfect pitch and dramatic ease; too often one can be irritated by the reader.
I found the story very good both psychologically and dramatically.

Great story of thuggery and threat. As always, Tony Britton is simply the best narrator.

Bonecrack review

One of his best I think. Sons and fathers and their trials and tribulations with the love of horses thrown in Also murder and international skulduggery. What’s not to love and immerse yourself in a jolly good read or audio even better

Not Dick Francis' best story

Excellent narration as always but the characters were more 2 dimensional than ever. The plot seemed a bit ridiculous but Tony Britton makes it listenable. Popcorn for the eardrums.
