I love how our pilot lives on 45£ /month. How setting off a bomb with an analog transmitter could be done back in the day. What people ate and said , how they courted…

Obviously DF portrays a stoic and moral professional dealing with incredible adversity.
One of his best!! The build up is short and the excitement credible and sustained. (Unlike so many recent authors, there’s much factuality and real world (IRL?) details. Not just vague emotionalism. If you do trig and vectors in your head as I do, the specifics of flight are correct and rewarding to follow!!!)

Vintage Francis

Classic Dick Francis, excellent storyline. Only downside is the volume erratic at some points, listener potentially missing important plot points.

Ian ogilvy does a great job conveying the unique Francis feel- suspense, romance inner struggle of all people to live with courage and integrity through undeserved adversity-if you are a new generation of Francis readers- start here and you will have to read the others

Good - well paced story

Plot was complicated enough to hold one’s attention…moved along well …entertaining right through to the end.

Amazing author

If you have never listened to a Dick Francis book, you are missing out. Such an amazing author. He grabs the listener from the fist paragraph and doesn’t let go until he’s through.

Brilliant story, excellent narration. Dick Francis is one of the all time great writers. He is missed.

Rat Race good, but not his best.

I always enjoy Duck Frances, but this was not his best, but I still would recommend it as a good read/listen.

Volume fluctuates

Good story well told, however some dialog less audible. Is problem with narrator or recording?
