One of the best dick Frances stories
I have always enjoyed dick Francis ‘s stories. In my view, this is one of the best five if not the very best of his work. One reason I like it so much is that it has a lot of real horse racing in it !

Worth it but uncomfortable themes
As always the story is exciting engaging and well performed with predictable events but I was uncomfortable with the sun theme of potential incest and the vengeance of the hero Usually the criminals are the sadidtic ones

The Best
I have read Dick Francis books for years. They never disappoint. The storylines are clever and full of interesting facts. I would recommend Felix Francis books as well.

Engrossing plot w/ romance involving first cousins
a fascinating experience, becoming very engrossed with a criminal plot and then taking the occasional break to wonder if a romance was going to blossom between people whose fathers were brothers. it makes me want to find out what attitudes toward that sort of thing were in the early 1960s. no spoilers, though. you'll have to read or listen to find out if these potential lovers are able to work around a very basic biological truth to achieve true love.

I have read this book in book form several times and now listened to it. Never tire of Dick Francis, one of the most amazing story tellers of all time!!! A MUST read whether you like horses or not!!!

Psychological
It’s hard to know if this is the best, but it’s one of the best dick Francis novels. Here, he delves into the psychology of racing and psychology of jealousy, and of revenge. It is a wonderfully plotted story beautifully narrated. Tony Britton is amazing.
