Publisher's Summary

He was once my best friend, now he’s my worst enemy.

Xander Knight is heartbreakingly beautiful.

Ridiculously popular.

Brutally cruel.

He’s a knight, but won’t do any saving.

Xander

We started as a dream, now we’re a nightmare.

Kimberly Reed is pathetically fake.

Terribly innocent.

Secretly black.

She can hide but never from me.

Black Knight is part of Royal Elite Series but could be listened to on its own. For better understanding of the world, you might want to check out the previous books first. This is a high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains visceral mental health situations that some listeners can find triggering.

Raw and Real!

Xander and Kim’s story emotionally wrecked me. It’s the type of story that reaches into your chest and rips out your beating heart. It was raw and real and touched on sensitive topics that most authors shy away from. After watching Xander secretly torment Kim throughout the Royal Elite series we were ready to dig deep into the festering wound of their complicated relationship. This is a 5 star must listen that will have you anxiously awaiting the next book in this amazing series!

“She’s not only my soulmate, my life wouldn’t have existed without her.”

Another successful collaboration between Rina Kent, Shane East and Keira Stevens. Shane and Keira’s amazing voices makes each one of Rina’s wonderful characters resonate, taking this story to a whole other level.

🔥⭐️⭐️ MUST LISTEN!! ⭐️⭐️🔥

Hi, my name is Ari and I‘m obsessed with this series! Rina Kent delivers the perfect combinations of some off favorite tropes: bully romance and enemies to lovers! Not only does the story stand out in a sea of bully romances, but the characters feel unique, real, and the story is completely addictive. The wave of emotions in this story managed to both crush me and give me life! Not to mention Xander is everything! The man is infuriatingly delicious and I was here for it!

Narration was performed by Shane East and Keira Stevens and holy guacamole consider me dead. Their performances brought Xander and Kimberly’s story to life perfectly. This audio is beyond credit worthy and I can’t wait for the next one!

So amazing!

Xander and Kimberly's story is emotional, raw, and gritty. When I read it I felt all the emotions. When I listen to an audio I always worry I won't get the same type of emotion that I do when I read. But let me tell you when I listened to Black Knight I felt it all. These two narrators were perfect! I cannot think of better options than Shane East and Keira Stevens, This is just one of those audios I had no idea I needed to hear on audio. This book is just phenomenal and the audio was just an amazing addition.

If there is ever an audio book I recommend it would be this one! I have not always been a fan of audio books and I'm extremely picky about the ones I do like. They have to have voices that match what I picture while reading, and have to make me feel the same emotion. And Black Knight hits all of my boxes.

Star performance for a good story

A story with mature themes despite being a new / young adult tale, challenging issues that many try to overcome — issues of self-worth, insecurity, coping vices, mixed with the want to the loved. The question though was what was the reason for the discord between Xander and Kim? This story was a little less captivating than that of Aiden and Elsa due in large part to be seemingly solvable with open communication between the couple. There were parts, however, that were touching were moving. This audiobook does an excellent job of visualizing, at least auditory, their poignant story.

Great narration by these voice actors. The Keira was able to make a distinction not only from female character to female character, but also between two leading characters. For instance, she was able to voice a distinct tone for Kim that sounded slightly differently than that of Elsa in the previous book, more inflections of young and insecurity.
Shane delivered also superb narration of the various male roles, inflecting a tone that would seem characteristic of Xander, yet maintaining Aiden from the previous book. Compared to Aiden, Xander was recited less broodily, more carefree with a tinge of insecurity.

Add the range in voice acting of character exchanges, i.e. dialogue vs. prose, the performance was impressive and coupled with a good story, made for an entertaining to audiobook.

Absolutely perfect and delicious!!!

“Black Knight is the kind of story that you need to read it first and then hear it because nothing will be the same. Xander and Xin’s story had me on the edge with all the tension but mostly the hostility between them. It was delightful in a twisted way. Their story was raw and intense there’s no other way to put in words. The plot itself deals with some delicate topics though and the way Rina approach the topics was priceless. Plus I was ready to hear Shane and Keira once again. So far this is the best book. Emotional, dark and so hot.”

Incredible

As always, I absolutely enjoyed the narration. Shane East was a brilliant choice.

Kim & Xander wrecked me even more than I thought was possible.
An incredibly emotional journey, touching on lots of sensitive subjects. Two hurting people. Two lives intertwined. Heartbreak. Despair.
But also love. Courage. Hopefulness. A light at the end of the tunnel.

This particular couple has been in the works for what seemed like forever. Their pull to one another was like gravity, something that they tried to resist, no matter how futile it was.

I always love the journey back to RES, because then we get to catch up with Elsa & Aiden, and get more insight to what could possibly be coming next for the Horsemen. Personally, as much as I enjoyed this one, I cannot wait to see how Ronan gets taken down.

Not For The Faint-hearted 💔

This is my very first read and listen from Ms. Kent. I received an audiobook giveaway through Facebook Shane East official fan group Shaneiaks.

Black Knight is book 4 of the Royal Elite Series and can be read on its own. I did not read the previous books from the series and I do not feel I missed anything jumping into this book. I did not know what to expect in terms of writing style but I am aware of the author’s note on the ebook that she wrote darker stories that can be upsetting and disturbing. And I agreed with the author that this book is not for the faint of heart, it takes on a lot of triggers: depression, eating disorder and suicide to name a few. I wish the author’s note is included in the audiobook too.

Personally young adult, high school bully romance is not my go to book. My only reason I chose this book was because it was narrated by my favourite narrator Shane East. New-to-me narrator Keira Stevens and Mr. East narrations were exceptionally good. They were so good that I find it harder to listen to Chapter 19 to 20, I had to take a pause before continuing with this book.

Overall you will enjoy this book if you’re into YA, HS bully romance and you don’t find dark stories with triggers upsetting. This is a well-written story by Ms. Kent.

Loved this story from a new-to-me author

If you love dark high school bully romance, I have no doubt you will love Black Knight! The characters are both messed up, their circumstances are both messed up, but when all of that fades away they are beautifully messed up together.

Let's play a game of me vs. story:

ME: Rina Kent is a new-to-me author.
STORY: She's a very good author!

ME: I have not read the other books in the series.
STORY: It's a stand alone and does not leave you feeling like you missed out on something if you haven't read the others. Carry on!

ME: I generally don't read YA stories, mostly because I have a 17-yr old son and I can't help but picture him and his friends. Ew!!
STORY: Xander and Kimberly aren't your average teenagers. They live in a world of eff'ed up British royalty that provides for a great playground of eff'ed up scenes.

ME: I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Shane East and Keira Stevens. They are fabulous narrators!
STORY: What she said. But she forgot to mention the audiobook is DUET!!

ME: It kind of annoys me when a book doesn't come across as a "full package" in it's branding. The characters are 17/18 yrs old. The cover model is way past that age. Keira Stevens can get away with sounding like a teenager, but Shane East... ummm... nope.
STORY: Reality doesn't sell books. Put a teenager on the cover and you get limited interest. Put on a hot AF cover model and the readers will be so busy drooling they won't care how old he is. He's hot AF and he appeals to all ages! Keira IS fabulous. And you can't go wrong with Shane East because he's hot AF too, and I don't just mean his voice. *swoon* And thank goodness he's NOT actually 17, amIright?!

ME: I was REEEALLLY looking forward to hearing Shane East say my name over and over and over. And he did, but not enough. Xander uses nicknames for Kimberly a lot, too. Next time, dear author, pleeease include some dialogue along the lines of, "Kimberlie (oops, I mean 'Kimberly') you are so fucking hot. Everything about you is beautiful. Kimberlie/y, you are the most amazing woman and I can't imagine my life without you. I love you, Kimberlie." (Oops, again with the mis-spelling.) If you could write that kind of dialogue for Shane to whisper into my ears, I will buy every book you ever wrote and all the ones in the future, too. Deal?
STORY: Ummmm.... yeah.... well... I'll get back to you on that one.

STORY: So, cut to the bottom line. Would you recommend me?
ME: Absolutely!!

Note: Thanks go to the author for providing me a free audio version for review. My review is unbiased and I have had no other communication her or her PA.

4.5 Stars

4.5*

I received an ARC of this from the author and her team and I volunteered to leave an unbiased review.

This had me up until 4am. I couldn't put it down.

I've been on quite a Rina Kent binge of late and when I'm obsessed with the boys and girls at RES, especially Kimberly and Xander. I've been desperate for their story and MAN OH MAN did Rina do me right.

I may have only been reading her stories for less than 5 months, but I can quickly put her on the list of authors I trust with any genre of romance, but especially bully romances.

There are triggers in this so look for warnings and be careful. Rina don't pull no punches.

But I loved every word of this even if I had my heart in my throat a bunch of times. I've read this twice now and it comes even more to life on the audiobook. The duel narration is a great choice for this genre of book. I'm really getting addicted to Shane East on audio.
