Author S. C. Slawin spent his first 44 years as a faithful Catholic, having been born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church. His faith led him to take an active role in the church, spending time as an altar server, a CCD teacher, a lector, and an RCIA instructor. After living his life dedicated to the traditions, doctrines, and practices of Catholicism, he embarked on a very unexpected and momentous journey into a deeper exploration of the teachings of the Catholic faith and the Holy Scripture. This book documents his amazing and personal account of finding a true understanding of God's simple plan for Salvation.
its sad this man has left Christs church. He keeps on using the bible for all his explanations. The bible didn't fall from heaven. It wasn't written by God. It's a collection of books chosen at a Catholic council to be all books considered inspired by God. It wasn't meant to be the end all be all. There were Christians 400 years before the bible. And if you study the history of Christianity you'll see all the early church father's say again and again the church of the apostles and continued by the bishops is the true church. the church father's never say read your bible and you'll know the truth. probably because the bible didn't exist at that time. this man means good, but in the end was lead astray. after all, if the bible is the sole authority on Christianity, and every question is answered in it then why are there over 30000 denominations of protestantism? if only God had started an organization to help us learn his true message. oh yeah, he did. And it's been here for since Jesus Christ. thats nearly 2000 years!. I don't understand why God would not only allow Catholicism to exist, but also allow it to be the overwhelmingly dominant Christian tradition if it is not the truth. Other traditions have died with time, but Catholicism is still alive and universal. hmm, is God trying to tell us something? well this author obviously isn't getting it

I very much enjoyed this book. I appreciate that he added scripture references. I would definitely recommend to anyone. As a Christian I found this book very enlightening.
Great narrator and great story. I have come away with some big questions about my faith. Not sure if I'll leave Catholicism but this book really questioned the same things I do.
