Publisher's Summary

The Shadow Crusade has begun. While the Ultramarines reel from Kor Phaeron's surprise attack on Calth, Lorgar and the rest of the Word Bearers strike deep into the realm of Ultramar.

Their unlikely allies, Angron and the World Eaters, continue to ravage each new system they come across - upon the garrison planet of Armatura, this relentless savagery may finally prove to be their undoing. Worlds will burn, Legions will clash and a primarch will fall.

Excellent

The story stands up there with the best in the series. narration is good. Would have loved some auto tune or something on the dreadnought voices though. I really am developing a bad habit of listening to these too quickly though.

Incredible that’s all I can say

The relationships and the character building in this book was amazing. I would actually like to go back for another listen soon simply to catch everything I could of possibly missed.

Kharn and Argel Tal need to get a room.

This book is like a buddy cop movie, except instead of cops, the buddies are daemon-possessed mass-murdering superhuman berserkers. And instead of solving crimes, they spend their time amicably debating the philosophy of war and the nature of religion. In short, it's scientifically impossible for this to not be the greatest book ever.

Great stuff

Awesome story, man do I hate Erebus. Love the series because you can empathize with the different sides and can get a more complete picture of the different perspectives and motivations.

Great stuff! i thought i was gonna dislike it.

But the story about Khan and Argel Tal was amazing, there is more to theese legions than meets the eye. This book was great at depicting the World Eaters and Word Bearers in a more "humane" way than just butchers and sadists...it was more about honor, brotherhood and loyalty.
It was also greatly narrated.

Amazing

The best horus heresy book I have read and one of the best ADB books around. The ability to humanize Angron and the insanity committed by the villains in this story is top notch. Jonathan keeble gives a great performance as ever

Skulls for skull throne! A must listen.

An action packed thrilling story that won't let you press pause. Has everything you want from a Warhammer 40K story. I couldn't recommend it anymore. Also a brilliant performance from the reader, he really brings it to life.

Great first book to listen to on audible

Great story from a great writer, if you know a lot about the lore you know where it ends but the journey is well worth it and the subversion of the title was a good twist.
