Publisher's Summary

When Kreel takes a job working the midnight shift at a local cemetery, he never expected that he would come close to joining those in the ground around him. When a woman with eyes as black as night, and a soul to match tries to claim Kreel as her own, he is sent on a desperate search for a cure. But as the new moon rises, he only hopes his time has not run out.

Please keep in mind that although this is the second book in the Werewolves and Shifters series, it is more of a tie-in as this one is not considered a romance, contains no shifters, and is more of a dark comedy.

3.5 Strangely Vampy Stars

Kreel takes a job digging graves, he doesn't really like this job but it pays the bills.
I love is sidekick Charlie he cracks me up. Pops out on Kreel and scared him witless. Lmao too good

Maggie is a vampire, and she is lonely so when she sees Kreel she was overwhelmed by a pull to him. So she makes him one like her. Kreel isn't happy about this and wants to be his old self again so he goes to find away to break the curse.

Charlie is the comic relief I swear it he is my favorite character.

A Unique Vampire Short Story

Would you listen to Bayou Moon again? Why?

Yes. It was different from most vampire stories with a few unexpected twists. It takes place in the Bayou as it says, so it taps into the sultry Southern culture and the sultry mood and magic of that region.

What did you like best about this story?

The South is known for it's own dark past and eerie elements such as voodoo and magic. Adding that with vampire story gave it added interest

Which character – as performed by Ashley Huyge – was your favorite?

The vampire interestingly enough.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The twist in the story. I didn't see it coming.

Any additional comments?

Interesting characters, interesting mood. This was a memorable piece.

Pretty good

Well, I guess I'm gonna have to get book two? Lol The story was pretty good but I had somewhat of a difficult time distinguishing between characters if I became a little bit lost. The narrator isn't very good at making the characters sound different. Her voice is pleasant, but just can't make it different enough to remember who's speaking over all a decent story and I would recommend giving it a read.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

this book made me laugh so hard

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charlie is the kindly old uncle type one that sense of humor...you know the kind of uncle that used to say "pull my finger"

Which character – as performed by Ashley Huyge – was your favorite?

Charlie

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I belly laughed

Any additional comments?

This was a delightful change to the normal dark steamy books that I love so much.

The lighter side of vampires.

Note: While this is Book 2 in the series, it works just fine as a stand alone story.

In this dark comedy, Maggie is a lonely vampire. She contemplates suicide but decides to try to make some company for herself first. Kreel and Charlie work at a cemetery, which is the perfect place to meet suicidal, lonely vampires apparently.

Charlie drinks on the job, which makes him an easy target when Maggie attacks. Alas, his head is dented in so he provides much of the humor for the rest of the story. Kreel is dead set against being a demon blood sucker forever so he has a huge argument with Maggie, which isn’t what she was expecting. Toss in some voodoo and family ties and there’s plenty of fodder for humor.

This story was quite a bit different from Book 1, Blood Moon. There’s dark humor every where (which I liked) but no sex of any kind (which was fine). The pacing is still swift as there’s plenty of ground to cover and characters to introduce in this short story. Over all, I liked this book better than Book 1. I felt the characters were a little better formed, I liked all the humor, and I didn’t have to put my suspension of disbelief in overdrive over some sudden hormonal romantic hookup. The ending does have a solid tie into the first book but you don’t have to have read it to enjoy this story.

I received a free copy of this audiobook.

The Narration: Ashley Huyge was great with the accents but didn’t do spooky at all. Instead she sounds chipper the entire way through, like a flight attendant. This worked for the humor but not for the lonesome suicidal part of Maggie’s personality.

Great narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Characters and plot not well developed. The writing seemed to be far below the average available on the market for adult readers.

What does Ashley Huyge bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The quality of the narration is only thing that saves this book. She made unbelievable characters come alive.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Seemed more like an essay than a novel. would have made a good English project in the 8th grade.
