Story
It's raining blood on the village of Happenstance. As the end of summer beckons, the local folk are planning the festival of Tatty Bogle. Hideous scarecrows are appearing all over the place, and almost everyone is behaving as if they're fudgeknocking bananas. Retired TV star Tom Baker is in the garden making friends with cabbages (especially Eric), and Mrs Frimbly is up to curious, malinky deeds of her own.

Publisher's summary
Baker's End: Gobbleknoll Hall brings together Tom Baker, former Doctor Who companion Katy Manning, and comedienne Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk from Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe) for a tale of television ghost hunters, dead glam-rock stars and goblins.
Ghost-hunting TV show Manifest Yourself is filming an overnight vigil in the infamous Gobbleknoll Hall, deep in the murksome woods somewhat near the village of Happenstance! When Mrs Frimbly gets wind of these swervish developments, she is terribly excited: she's a huge fan of the show.
But the spirits of Gobbleknoll Hall are not to be messed about with, as the King of Cats knows all too well! Why is the crepusular mansion haunted by the jangling of ancient glam-rock anthems? What is the secret of the phantom boozer in the basement? And what the fudgeknocking blazes is Mrs Frimbly playing at?
Critic reviews
"Paul Magrs has done it again! This time writing a sequel to the BBC Audio Drama Award nominated Baker's End: The King of Cats that's not only is as good as the first but surpasses it!.... The kooky fun really shines through with the endless wordplay and the shades of the absurd and the macabre. When the cast is having a good time, it really shows through the finished product." ( We Are Cult)
"In truth, there is nothing else out there, and nothing else quite as "out there" as Baker's End. It manages to be hilarious and heart-warming, as well as manic and melancholy too and if you enjoyed The King of Cats, then Gobbleknoll Hall is surely a must have." (5/5, Cultbox)

Maybe I'm not British enough for this book?
Performance quality is great, the actors are great, but this audio performance didn't connect with me. I suspect that I'm lacking context that would make it better. You seem to need to already have some thoughts on the real life actor Tom Baker and perhaps understand him how he is understood in the zeitgeist of England. I am just vaguely aware of him as one of the actors who played Dr. Who.
Still there were bits that made me laugh. Unfortunately the vast majority just left me confused. It felt like there was a joke there but the punchline was inaccessible to me.
