Publisher's summary

Sydney Richardson already has her hands full running two successful Madison, Wisconsin, eateries and enjoying the company of handsome blues bar owner Clay Hawthorne. She doesn't have the time or patience for his ex's homecoming.

Two decades ago, Miranda Greer abandoned Clay with their infant child. Now she claims she wants to make amends, reconnect with her son, and settle down. None of which is to Sydney's liking, because behind Miranda's chic, saccharine façade, Sydney senses something very bad.

Bad quickly turns to worse when Miranda is found brutally murdered, with hard evidence pointing to Clay as the killer. Determined to clear him, Sydney launches her own investigation. But as Sydney digs into Miranda's past, she soon runs afoul of an enigmatic corporation that's part church, part business, and all-powerful when it comes to keeping its secrets buried - and its enemies silent.

Maybe better than the first book.

Hush Money, the first in the series, was excellent, and Bad Girl was as good or better. Characters are interesting and well developed, as is the story line. I came to this series because they are read by Xe Sands, one of my favorite narrators.

Love the series BUT

I love this series but a little annoyed that someone who has a loving adopted family is soooo obsessed about being left behind by biological parents.
I know, some people can’t get over the hurt but Sydney is an intelligent, loved person. I don’t know, I guess I need to be in her shoes. Still, the 2nd book is good.

Great series...

I was just getting ready to write a review and saw the Audible reviewer Wayne has beat me to the punch! His critique of this book is spot on.
The only thing I would add to his review is how enjoyable and entertaining I find the books written by T E Woods. In this book the characters are all believable if not all likable.
In this book the mother (Miranda) of Clay's son is murdered. Of course Clay is the prime suspect. Although Sydney and Clay are having problems, she's the first one to go to Miranda's hometown to get some history.m and try to clear Clay. Seems the church leader (where Miranda worked) had Sydney checked out and promptly escorted her out with a warning not to return. Sydney can't help but think that someone is setting Clay up, but who? It won't be who you think it is!
Xe Sands does an excellent job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great book weak narrator

I really enjoyed the narrator for the Fixer series, but this narrator has less range and less depth.
The books are great, yet this narrator seems to believe that artificial pauses, and long bits of unite make her narration more interesting. It doesn’t work because she over does it using it for every single character and not just one.
Tiring to listen to because of this, but another great novel.

Good series

The Hush Money series was good, however I wish the ending would have said more about what happened to Sydney and Clay.

T. E. Woods wrote it so of course it is 5 star!

Bad Girl is Book 2 in the Hush Money Mystery series by Madison, Wisconsin based clinical psychologist T. E. (Teri) Woods. The lady writes consistently outstanding suspense mystery/thrillers beginning with he six book Justice/Fixer series. Hush Money is the name of an upscale restaurant in the UW university city of Madison. Sydney Richardson is the owner/operator of Hush Money as well as another restaurant/bar in Madison that caters to police and firemen clientele. Sydney is protagonist but her boyfriend and local bar owner Clay Hawthorne plays a major role. Much of this novel takes place in another state university town of Ann Arbor, MI. A PG (prosperity gospel) Christian church which has gone even further astray plays a major role in Bad Girl. Xe Sands is an excellent narrator and she is the voice of Sydney Richardson.

I have a MAJOR issue with the publisher's summary of Bad Girl because the third paragraph accurately describes the plot of the first 4.5 hours of this 8.5 hour audio novel. The first two short paragraphs of the summary set up the plot perfectly.

One can never go wrong listening to an audio novel by T. E. Woods!

hated the ending

really liked the story. Sydney character is beginning to wear on me a bit. I think it's time for her to choose Clay and the two of them should start to unravel. her parentage, which is where the real mystery is.
