Publisher's Summary

Single dad and hockey star, Calder Weiss has put his love life on the back burner for the past five years, raising his daughter and keeping up with the demands of his profession. But all that changes the minute Rachel Perry runs into him in the most unlikely of places, right outside the men's bathroom.

Vibrant and enchanting, she captures his attention, making it impossible for him to walk away without scoring her number. Their connection is immediate, their attraction palpable, and their relationship undeniable.

But Rachel isn't the only girl in Calder's life, which scares him, because Calder's daughter already lost her mother. He doesn't want Shea to lose someone close to her again, making Rachel's task of breaking through Calder's wall that much more difficult.

Short and Sweetly Hot

Single Dad Hockey star has his 5 year old daughter the center of his life. He hasn’t dated and has protected his daughter from hurt as her mother (a one night stand that cured him of that) left her and isn’t coming back.
Rachel, a kindergarten teacher, runs into Calder (hero) and here is a connection.
Clever and fun banter as the two learn about each other.
Loved the angst was minimal, get tired of extended and often wasted angst and misunderstandings.
Highly recommend...great narration and clever and fun author...acquaint yourself with both in Audible Eascape

Very Funny

This book is very cleverly written. I laugh quite hard at the intelligent banter between Rachel and Calder. It's a sweet love story. The narration was really good.

cute story, but...

I enjoyed the story and Luci did a fine job narrating. Jeffrey Kafer however, is one I'll be avoiding from here out. It was like listening to romance as read by J Peterman from Seinfeld.

Short and Sweet

This was an adorable short story about a single father who has been on a dating hiatus. Its short sweet and just plain adorable. He meets a teacher when going to a public bathroom dressed up as a fairy princess including wings. After a few witty quips he asks her for her number to go out on a date. The date scene was just plain old school romantic. A total win for both the author and the narrators. I will definitely buy this once it becomes cheaper. A full credit is expensive for a 2.5 hour audio book, even as adorable as this one is.

Male narrator's voice not for this character

This was short, hence the novella right in the title. And I didn't like the male narrator's voice. And for a while I was worried we wouldn't get one of the author's signature steamy scenes, but we did in the end. A cute and fun addition to this series.

Average

I found this book to be average. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. Maybe if it were a bit longer and we could get a little more character development it would be better. I did like the characters in the book and it was a little on the funny side in places. I'm not disappointed that I listened to it.

Short and Sweet

A short, sweet, and sexy story. Calder and Rachel are cute together, their chemistry is undeniable. It’s not all sunshine and roses, but their journey was enjoyable. I liked this novella.

My bad; overall a 2.75

My overall score and story score are both more like 2.75.
I chose poorly. I thought the book would be cuter than it was, based on the book excerpt. The author tried to be cute, but it didn't work for me. I really didn't enjoy the texting between Rachel & Calder. I already didn't like listening to text messages, but then it included the phone messaging sound too. I thought there would be a greater part for Calder's daughter. But his 5 yr old daughter, Shay, had a very small role, rarely seen even though she lived with her dad. Her small parts had her sounding older than 5 & included her asking Rachel if her dad is a good kisser. Really?!
The story wasn't all wine and roses; there was a bit of conflict. It was reasonable & not manufactured, thankfully.
The male narrator can't do cutesy bc his voice is too deep. I preferred the female narrator as both Rachel, the kindergarten school teacher, and Calder Weiss, the star shortstop for a Colorado hockey team.
There weren't many aspects of the story that I enjoyed. But I can say that it was good that the attraction between Calder & Rachel seemed real. And the short book didn't focus on hockey; there was 1 short game w/ little detail. Rachel & Calder jumped into bed quickly. The one scene was hot. There was more sex talk.
Still, w/ the few pluses, my overall experience is closer to the negative part of the evaluation spectrum.

Wow

Just loved this quick romance. The banter between characters kept their story light and freaky. A great read. Audio was fantastic.
