Publisher's summary

Single dad and hockey star, Calder Weiss has put his love life on the back burner for the past five years, raising his daughter and keeping up with the demands of his profession. But all that changes the minute Rachel Perry runs into him in the most unlikely of places, right outside the men's bathroom.

Vibrant and enchanting, she captures his attention, making it impossible for him to walk away without scoring her number. Their connection is immediate, their attraction palpable, and their relationship undeniable.

But Rachel isn't the only girl in Calder's life, which scares him, because Calder's daughter already lost her mother. He doesn't want Shea to lose someone close to her again, making Rachel's task of breaking through Calder's wall that much more difficult.

My bad; overall a 2.75

My overall score and story score are both more like 2.75.
I chose poorly. I thought the book would be cuter than it was, based on the book excerpt. The author tried to be cute, but it didn't work for me. I really didn't enjoy the texting between Rachel & Calder. I already didn't like listening to text messages, but then it included the phone messaging sound too. I thought there would be a greater part for Calder's daughter. But his 5 yr old daughter, Shay, had a very small role, rarely seen even though she lived with her dad. Her small parts had her sounding older than 5 & included her asking Rachel if her dad is a good kisser. Really?!
The story wasn't all wine and roses; there was a bit of conflict. It was reasonable & not manufactured, thankfully.
The male narrator can't do cutesy bc his voice is too deep. I preferred the female narrator as both Rachel, the kindergarten school teacher, and Calder Weiss, the star shortstop for a Colorado hockey team.
There weren't many aspects of the story that I enjoyed. But I can say that it was good that the attraction between Calder & Rachel seemed real. And the short book didn't focus on hockey; there was 1 short game w/ little detail. Rachel & Calder jumped into bed quickly. The one scene was hot. There was more sex talk.
Still, w/ the few pluses, my overall experience is closer to the negative part of the evaluation spectrum.

Should be free

I didn't realize it was just over 2 hours when I wasted a credit on it. I love this series so bought them all. Cute story, but not worth a credit.

Worst

I bought it because I love this series. The story was silly but the narrators made it worse. At first I felt ripped off to pay full price for a novella but as it went on glad it was over fast.

It should be free

This is ridiculous. I love Meghan Quinn’s books. I love the depth of characters. Her humor is wonderful. However, this story is not finished. It’s not even a novella really. The ending is choppy and so is the rise to climax. Then add that it cost $9.50. I want a refund.

I recommend it for a quick listen with very little angst

Barely a story

This is barely a story with almost no real conflict or plot. The sex is pretty graphic and the first date scene is so long it became annoying. Also, the characters were funny to a point that it was obnoxious.

Very Funny

This book is very cleverly written. I laugh quite hard at the intelligent banter between Rachel and Calder. It's a sweet love story. The narration was really good.

cute story, but...

I enjoyed the story and Luci did a fine job narrating. Jeffrey Kafer however, is one I'll be avoiding from here out. It was like listening to romance as read by J Peterman from Seinfeld.

Short and Sweet

This was an adorable short story about a single father who has been on a dating hiatus. Its short sweet and just plain adorable. He meets a teacher when going to a public bathroom dressed up as a fairy princess including wings. After a few witty quips he asks her for her number to go out on a date. The date scene was just plain old school romantic. A total win for both the author and the narrators. I will definitely buy this once it becomes cheaper. A full credit is expensive for a 2.5 hour audio book, even as adorable as this one is.

Awesome 🤎🤎

These two were definitely meant to be together. They are everything and more. Time apart wouldn’t change that . I was so glad we got more of this fabulous family. I can’t wait for the next instalment. 🤎💕💖💕😉

Wow

Just loved this quick romance. The banter between characters kept their story light and freaky. A great read. Audio was fantastic.
