Some say he made a deal with the devil to spare his lover’s soul and haunts the pumpkin patch to this day, waiting for her return. “Don’t go near the pumpkin patch on Halloween,” they’ve always warned the women in my family. “Jack might get you.”

Too bad I don’t listen because I have to find out the hard way that ghost stories exist for a reason. And in Jack’s flames, I just might become one.

Fantastic Halloween Spicy Horror

I do not know how Aiden Pierce manages to pack so much story into a 2.5 hour novella, but this is excellent. I’ve read the eye-version in the past and I have to say I enjoyed it even more on this audio re-read.

Autumn Alexander does a fantastic job narrating this book, voicing both Ada and Jack with distinct personalities and cadences. It’s rare for me to listen at a speed below 2.0, but I listened to this one at 1.5 because I enjoyed it so much that I wanted it to last. Alexander makes Ada’s thirst for Jack sing through the narration, and it’s impressive.

The story has so much packed in - it’s written intelligently and Ada’s personal backstory and family history help define her a character while her curiosity and openness are all uniquely hers. This also has one of the best examples of « who did this to you? » that I’ve ever read.

Solo Narration

Solo Narration audio - female narrator did a great job with the voices! When it was just Ada and Jack speaking it sounded more like a duet narration, incredibly easy to tell who was talking when. With the bigger group it was a bit harder to follow but not enough to where I couldn't follow the story

Ada is the outcast of her town, her mom is the town prostitute and everyone is just waiting for her to follow in those footsteps. Her family has been in the town for generations and her last name is synonymous with the most famous ghost story/characters - Jack Calloway, or as the locals call him "Pumpkin Head"

Her "peers" trick her to a party where they summon Jack and quickly leave her for dead. Luckily, Jack has been waiting 400 years for her and he isn't about to let this chance slip him by. What follows is lots of deranged spiciness with a dash of blood and gore thrown in - the perfect mix of horror and erotica!

I loved that we got an emotional backstory in such a short book and am obsessed with how it ended. I definitely need a follow up with their adventures in Hell!

usually I'm a duet style listener. but I was very pleased with autumn alexanders performance. finally getting to listen to Jack coming alive and getting his adaline was spectacular.

Hot 🥵

Oh my god you guys 🥵 I needed a cool shower after this one. It made my Halloween for sure 🤤🤤 The story, the scenes?! Truly a masterpiece

Ohhh my goodness

I was so sad when it ended it was a great spooky listen during the holidays. Gave you everything you could ask for in a Halloween novella. The spicy was there but didn’t take away from the story at all. Recommend this one for anyone who needs a little pumpkin spice in their life.
