He sees her. He wants her. She vows never to be tamed.

The Taskmaster, the player of games. He hunts his victims, teases them, tortures, and destroys. It's what he was born to do. It's all he knows. And they deserve it.

Abigail Walters was next on his list. She needed to learn that the sins of her father had fallen on her shoulders. He couldn't wait to have her in his kill room. But she had dark secrets. And he wasn't the only one watching her from the shadows.

Her darkness drew him in. With her, all the rules changed. His games took on a new meaning. He wanted to push her to her limits, in all the best ways. He was her master.

But when predator meets predator, there can only be one winner. The stakes are high and the cost even higher. The stranger watching her will stop at nothing to get what he wants. And in the game of murder, are there ever winners?

The Taskmaster is a standalone dark romance with a happy ever after. For mature listeners.

Born in blood and raised in hell, he lived to rain chaos even the Devil would fear. Until one day, she stumbled into his world... And nothing was ever the same.

Please proceed with caution and read tw

This book was dark, messed up, and honestly devastating but I loved every second of it.

Isaiah(taskmaster):
From the moment I met him I couldn’t help but love him he’s such a complex character. On the surface, he’s brutal and unforgivably dangerous a stalker/killer who has a need for control. Targeting people who hurt him as a child and forcing them into deadly games. But the more you learn about his past the more heartbroken you become all the abuse and trauma he endured. It all added so much more depths to his character, and I understand why he started killing those people off they deserved so much worse honestly.

I didn't expect to grow attached to him,but I did like.. i was heartbroken and gutted for him.

Abigail Walters:
Her storyline was also gut wrenching the more you learned about her own dark past. On the surface, she seems to have a good life a cop for a dad and a nice family. But she isn’t all sunshine she has her own secret past and stuff she keeps hidden from everyone. She went through so much all in one night all because she loved her friend and went to looking for her and for answers.

The trauma, the abuse and, then her eventual retaliation. Turns out she has more in common with her stalker both seeking revenge although in different manners. She starts seeking out the woman that pinned her down and seeking out the man that harmed her and her childhood best friend.

Audiobook:
I absolutely devoured the audiobook Shane East and Evelyn Rose did such a beautiful job bringing this to life. Truly. Shane’s voice whenever he would do the growling/Yelling really brought those psycho and intense moments to life. Really I could feel the raw emotions as if they were real from the sad trauma stuff, to the stalker/killer moments. Together Shane and Evelyn created a masterpiece that felt truly emotional and intense.

Overall:
This book was dark, emotional, and completely messed up in the best way. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like twisted and dark stories this is one for you.

The ending was everything I loved how Isaiah finally got his happy ending, both becoming a father and being able to heal his child’s self by being a good father. And then meeting his bio Mom who he thought was dead. Him and Abigail deserved a happy ending and I’m so glad they got it.

DARK AND EMOTIONAL

from the start I was hooked. yes its definitely a dark book check your trigger warnings but the story was so fleshed out and good. it had some twists I didnt expect and everything moved smoothly and at a pace I could believe. the smut is an added bonus that was absolutely delicious but I loved the story more.

fantastic

Audiobook review:
This audiobook is narrated by Shane East and Evelyn Rose. I’m SO glad that Shane continued this series. Shane was perfect for our unhinged MMC! Evelyn Rose did well as Abigail.
Isaiah is one of those characters who gets under your skin: terrifying and tragic all at once. You know he’s morally black, but you can’t help feeling for him. The backstory of his life was tragedy wrapped in one person. He met some boys in the home (previous series) and held one to a promise (it was never kept). The Taskmaster is the KING of all red flags 🚩 and darkness. He hides within the shadows, stalking and waiting to play his game. His predatory behavior towards Abigail is off the charts. It turns from revenge to something else entirely whenever he recognizes she’s hiding just like he is.
This book is set in the same world as Sons of Anarchy and previous characters are mentioned/crossover. If you haven’t read that series yet, RUN & read it before starting this one. While this is a standalone, I feel like you’ll have the bigger/better picture by reading the entire series. If I could change anything I’d maybe change the last bit of the book. Her dad taking the bones to test. I would have liked to see Abigail’s reaction to the boy in the cupboard. I also would have liked to see about their first 🤟🏻. We seen Abby in Tyler’s epilogue— she was married and had a little boy. I would have liked to see more of this — more of the pregnancy more before the epilogue.
