This was my first read by S.J. Ryder & it was an emotional roller-coaster ride I didn't want to get off of! Emmett has immediately become one of my new fav book boyfriends & is the definition of if he wanted to he would. There isn't a thing this man wouldn't do for his little obsession! I also loved Blairs development so much, she went through the ringer & didn't let anything drag her down. She is a strong & independent fighter!

The duet narration for this audiobook was fantastic! Lucy & JF did an impeccable job bringing each & every one of these characters to life with every emotion to go along with it making it a goosebump worthy performance!

P.S.~I'm going to need to know more about Grimm immediately because I'm so intrigued by him!

Dark. Obsession. Raw. - Read the trigger warnings!

This book was much darker and more twisted than I anticipated.
Wow! It was intense, addictive, spicy, and so very good. The storyline and the characters had me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what was coming next.

Obsessed is too mild of a word to describe how the MMC felt. He was an absolute psychopath. From the moment these two entangled themselves together, it’s non-stop; and he stops at nothing to make her his. Toxic doesn’t even begin to describe their situation. Again, read those TW’s and hang on because this was one crazy ride.

Told in duet, Lucy Rivers and JF Harding were, as always, incredible. Both actors gave a phenomenal performance. They give this illusion of being in the storyline, so all the heartache and fear felt tangible, keeping you captivated until the very end.

Let’s talk about the audiobook experience
—because this duet narration deserves center stage.

This story is dark and heavy, so yes, check trigger warnings first. But once I hit play? I was gone. Lucy Rivers and JF Harding absolutely own this audiobook. Their duet performance doesn’t just tell the story—it inhabits it.

Lucy Rivers gives Blair so much depth and quiet strength. You can hear her resilience, her fear, her fight. Blair never feels fragile or passive, and Lucy’s delivery makes every moment of growth hit harder. You feel her surviving, not just reading about it.

And JF Harding as Emmett? Fully unhinged in the best way. His voice captures obsession, damage, and devotion so intensely that it’s borderline illegal. The way he delivers Emmett’s possessive loyalty had me sitting there like, “This is concerning… but I’m listening respectfully.” 😌🔥 He falls first, falls hard, and JF makes every line drip with that dangerous, all-consuming energy.

One line in particular lives rent-free in my head because of the narration:
“We will forever be intertwined. Our shattered souls will merge as one. You’re mine, little obsession.”
Chills. Actual chills.

Even the side characters shine in audio—especially Grimm. The bromance banter, the casual “what’s up, baby” phone greetings, the loyalty? The narrators make those moments pop and kept me smiling through the darkness.

Dark, emotional, obsessive, and wildly addictive—this audiobook pulled me under completely. If you’re an audio reader who loves intensity, duet narration, and morally questionable devotion… this one delivers.

I had heard so many good things about this book so when I was able to listen early to the audio I was very excited to dive in. It was the combination of some of my all time favorite dark romances with a lot of very similar themes and scenes, the parallels were almost concerningly so, but still a wild read. HEAVY on the TWs and very much pitch black, Emmett and Blair's story still had a lot of depth amongst all of the blazing hot spice. The trauma was very heavy in this book from beginning to end which is why these two finding their unconventional HEA was so satisfying. Lucy Rivers and JF Harding were the perfect cast for this world. Lucy was perfect as the ever fierce Blair and JF was phenomenal as the unhinged and absolutely delectable Emmett. The production was very well done and I really enjoyed the changes made to the book from page to audio. All in all was a good listen. My only major qualm was the heavyyyyy overuse of the nickname "my little obsession" and while I LOVE a well timed "good girl" moment, that was also a bit overused. 3.75/5 stars.

Whew..this one right here was a roller coaster. It’s fast paced and the perfect blend of spice, suspense and heart breaking moments.

You start with Blair (Our FMC) finally getting to her dream school after having to put it off because of her father passing and her need to care for her mom. She is excited for a real college experience. And let’s just say she definitely gets the full ride in the form of Emmet Blackwood. When he first sees her he is instantly obsessed. But there are dark things working against them and it’s a thrilling ride to finding out if they can escape the darkness laid before them. 🖤

And as an audiobook!? 🔥

Lucy Rivers was the perfect Blair. She brought all the emotions and our sweet Blair’s personality to life. 🖤

JF Harding did an amazing job capturing Emmet. All of his emotions and his obsession over Blair were brought to life and it couldn’t have been more perfect. 🖤


I will definitely be checking out the next in this universe. I can’t wait to see more Grimm.

Overall this was an amazing audiobook and I cannot wait for more.
