Unhinged and wild!

Sacrificial Sinners is the second book in the Blackwood Institute series. It picks up where the first book left off. You must read book one in order to understand what is happening in this book. This is not an interconnected standalone.

Brooklyn's men are left feeling devastated following the aftermath of the first book. There are a lot of hurt emotions and feelings of betrayal. Brooklyn is upset that she's still alive. Her mind is totally unhinged in this book and it is exacerbated by the introduction of "the Devil." Blackwood management has transferred and there are very dark happenings in the Z Wing. This book was so dark and definitely spicy!

Overall, I enjoyed the plot but sometimes felt like spicy scenes were thrown in just for the sake of being thrown in. I loved how dark this got and cannot wait to find out what happens in Desecrated Saints!!!

The audiobook is narrated by Bridget Bordeaux and Grant Armstrong. The narration was done so well! Other than my complaint of not having different narrators for each male character, I found the acting to be fantastic. Bridget Bordeaux portrayed the panic, anxiety, and madness of Brooklyn West in a manner that made me feel like I was in her head. I was feeling the desperation and terror that was being portrayed. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook as your read along with the physical or e-book!

Another amazing book by the genius J Rose

I’ve been so impatiently awaiting book two after that huge cliffhanger in book one, and it was so worth the wait. This book dove deeper into the characters’ pasts, and just how evil and inhumane Blackwood truly is. Being in Brooklyn’s mind made me question nearly everything that was happening, unsure of the truth. There was so much action and story packed into this one and once again I am on the edge of my seat, ready for the next (and final) book in the trilogy!

*This is book two of the Blackwood Institute trilogy. Twisted Heathens should be read first.

The found family trope at it’s finest

I am eating this trilogy up. I always love how well J Rose does mental health representation, but the found family trope in this book specifically hits me so hard. I was becoming emotional watching this close-knit family get over some of their differences and sticking together through thick and thin. They have every reason to be torn apart and broken down, but they still manage to persevere using each other as strength. I love how strong and resilient our FMC is, and I can't wait to see how this trilogy is going to wrap up.

Well that wasn’t expected but awesome!

Wow, I did not see any of that coming. I sort of guessed who patient 7 was, just from the story told, and I’m glad I was right. But omg I am hoping he can snap out of it. I need him to be ok. Sadie deserves it, Jude deserves it. Brooklyn and the boys are in for a long road ahead while they tackle this mess. But I think they have the best crew for the mission.

Book 2 is Fantastic!!!

In no way did I think Book 2 could top Book 1 … But it did… I am so invested in this trilogy it's not even funny.
I did not read my Kindle version yet so I can experience the full nuances of the Audio and man…its worth the wait.
I'm sure you will enjoy it either way. I just chose this way.

I think it's a marvellous Book… the continuation from book 1 is seamless. You need to read/listen in order. You will be at a complete loss if you don't.

Blackbird is such an Enigma most of the time but a lot of her little dark corners are explained in the book's duration. I still want to give her the world's biggest hug.
The stuff that goes down at Blackwood…..

I can not wait for book 3 on Audio… Consider me a Follower of note.

I found this story to have a fundamental impact on how I view things and people.
It stays with you. Empathy, Care, found family and redemptions are very strong arcs.
Compassion when all hope is lost and a clear view that not all is Black and White.
Grey is usually where we find ourselves.


I'm sitting on my hands here so I don't read ahead…. I want to experience it in Audio first … that’s a Me problem though… Why not do both!! ?
