High school senior Silas Bruer is at his last licks of patience with his terrible and painfully underwhelming life.

He is pummeled at school, his girlfriend dumps him, and his piss-poor excuse of a father sends him out on an errand late at night that gets him a stalker on his tail.

To make matters worse, the stalker has a vendetta against him, one that leaves Silas mutilated in an alleyway by a dumpster and a half-eaten pizza from Antonio's Pizza Parlor.

Death by a mysterious skull-faced titan was inevitable but only temporary. When he wakes up again, he is isekai'd to a fantasy world filled with humans, orcs, fae, goblins, and dragons. The world system refers to him as a hero chosen to save humanity's fallen nation from slavery, oppression, and total genocide.

In a land of magic and monsters, survival is a difficult task where underground human refugee camps are hidden markers in the dystopian lands of a once flourishing nation. When the crystal core, an entity keeping the world together, is in a critical state and in need of repair, saving the race at the bottom of the food chain becomes an even harder mission.

Level up, loot specialty items, and defeat the dragon princess to save humanity. Luckily for him, Silas has a strong and zany fae wolf girl to show him the ropes and help bulk up his magitek cyber gear.

The Lone Hero is a LitRPG isekai series with a realistic weak-to-strong MC fighting both internal and external conflicts. Follow Silas on his adventure as he dives into a powerful world terrorized by a dragon empire. Expect plenty of action, a sprinkle of comedy, a dash of slow-burn romance, and nail-biting high stakes.

character doesnt follow through

Im only at chapter 6. but I had to write a review already. the mc has some traumatic things happen to him in the beginning and then immediately trust someone. right after that person does him dirty. I understand people can change like the mc. but that fast?

Not ground breaking but tolerable

In a sea of absolutely awful or exceptionally good, this stands alone in how generic it is. The hero is the only hero in the world which is exactly what you normally see. The RPG elements are exactly what you expect. There is high technology, but the society is fantasy medieval, so ignore that. There's a dungeon core. Constant redundant stats you just heard ten minutes ago. None of these are unusual, but there's nothing particularly great or terrible with the plot.

The performance is slightly below average at the best moments. The chapters voiced by the guy have female characters voiced by the male and vice versa. Several performances are truly terrible, but all are at least a little below average. random and inconsistent Scotts Irish accents? Check. inconsistent tones? Check. Overly dramatic when it doesn't fit? Check. Emphasis on the wrong syllabla? Check. Extreme mood switches? Check. The performance is better than average AI, but worse than good AI.

A vivid and fun adventure

I like the story a lot. It’s a nice spin on Isekai. Very creative world. I have to finish it. It really ends on a cliffhanger and it killed me

Lite Romance with a dash of Hero

The narrators were great. The character voices and personality make it worth the listen.
The story is ok, but close to meh.

AudioBooks are difficult to pull off. The author has to produce a story that is both engaging and entertaining. Then the narrators have to do the same thing with their voices and give the story life. If both aren’t top notch the AudioBook is meh or it slips into something less than meh.

The storytelling is abit over the top and dramatic. The plot is a typical hero's journey. The political alliances to save the world are tedious. Each race needing this or that in quests.

The stats are not too much. Sometimes every little change deserves a stat review, Thank goodness the author spares us. The progression is good, and level skill mechanics are classic.

The light romance along the way is not aweful. The supporting dialog is sometimes delightful and flirty. The ending twist sucks, but I think it's a cliff hanger to fuel book2 adoption by evil editors.
