Publisher's Summary

Alex's life was fairly simple, work during the day and enjoy some sweet RPG's by night. Out of nowhere, he's whisked away to a fantasy world with game-like stats, monsters that drop loot, gorgeous mages, and a Dungeon to explore.

With only the clothes on his back and a single skill bestowed upon him, he has to survive this new world and forge a new life for himself.

And perhaps work on getting a harem while he’s at it.

Authors note: Inspired by light novels, RPG's and mangas. Contains Isekai, light LitRPG/ Gamelit stats, dungeons, magic, and a touch of tropes.

grown hero

The MC gets a great skill that he proceeds to squander like a noob which i wouldn't complain about if he hadn't talked so much about gaming and the fact that he loved rpgs and Manga. Honesty it would all be forgivable if he was autistic or something, but even an awkward guy would have done better. Also his key to greatness is just basic observation and low level critical thinking but everyone acts like he is a genius for thinking of very simple basic tactics.
In a world he is supposed to be a new to he comes off as knowing both too much and too little. Too much in the sense that the populations key tactic is charge the enemy until he suggests otherwise. Too little in the sense that he acts like the biggest noob. Barely checks his stats even tho his op skill suggests they would change quickly. He waited an entire week without looking at them once. I don't know any gamer who would do that.

unbelievably horny heiresses

The two main girls fall hoplessly in love with the main character at fist sight. The first one gets a pass, he does somthing really stupid and saves her then, while being nice and amenable, just leaves without asking for anything when she is use to others falling head overheals to even spend time with her.
The second one however, she dos have this rational.

She basicly gives her family the bird to join him. sure, she knows at this point that he is a top tier talent, but that should just mean she should have fished for ways to get him to join her faction. Now, once she finds out how his ability works, then it makes sense for her to cling onto him sooo damned strongly.

aside from that the MC can be kinda dumb and the Intrigue is basic at best.
Also, great voice acting.

Excited to see this series on Audible!

Super excited to see this series make it to Audible! These books are great and the best series Brent has produced so far IMO. The addition of the dual narration from Chris and Hazel make it even better!

Overall the series is very entertaining. Style is light novel'ish, adult scenes are FTB, and OP MC isn't an idiot in need of a whack from the clue-by-four. Solid world building, character development is a little light but still okay, major and minor story arcs are well paced and keep the reader engaged. Second book gets even better!

Way better than his other series.

Really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to hear the next book. I tried this author's Light Lordy series and man it was so bad. The protagonist was absolutely horrible. But this series was actually really good. Not a terribly unique story. But a fun ride with many isekai tropes common to anime. Kinda feels like a fun amalgamation of Konosuba and Danmachi. Though with an MC that actually has some sense.

It's ok

Brilliant voice work here - I love how each character has such a distinctive, immediately recognizable voice, at least the male characters.

The story itself is fine. Nothing too unusual. I didn't mind listening to it, but I'm not particularly emotionally invested in continuing the series. Although some of the scenes in the epilogue were a bit compelling (a little odd that they were all portrayed in first person though, despite having different characters).

The female characters are depicted in rather unrealistic manners. I know, I know, it's a harem novel. To an extent, that's what I sign up for. But still.

Their NPC's

The natives are NPC's. What is just normal behavior to them stands out to an isekai'd individual. Additionally, things that wouldn't be possible in a video game are possible in this world. Because its not a game. Ever want to grab a torch off a wall and use it to light some flammable decor on fire but can't because the devil haven't made possible? In that situation would an NPC even consider the action? No, the NPC would not and neither would these natives. But we all would, and so would the MC. Thus he stands out.

The system the author created is too unbalanced and broken for me. Its like a min maxers wet dream. Ever want 300 strength and no point in anything else with zero negative repercussions? This is the story for you. I think it's a terrible system just for the fact that possibility exists.

Lastly, the MC can't be a gamer. What RPG gamer do you know that doesn't check their stats for growth regularly? Given the MC's situation checking stats after every dungeon run at the very least would make sense. But going days/weeks without checking? Nah, thats so unrealistic for anyone that has ever invested time in an RPG that it's offensive to consider the MC as a gamer.

Great narration.

The absent minded hero and his horny duchesses.

Story - Interesting story line, but I would have loved to stop having everything in the MC life compared to a video game. If someone payed me a dime every time the MC compared the world to a game back home the book would have payed for itself. Also the MC must be wearing his MC badge on his sleeve because without really trying all the girls want him. It is definitely hard to believe the reactions. He doesn't out right OP things so despite his skill which is at least good.

Magic - Doesn't get a lot of explanation on how things work magickly but there is no levels only stats. People can work up stats slowly and get stronger. The MC has an easy Cheat which still works as he still struggle with things.

Narration - both Narrators did a great job.

Great story and awesome narration

Brent has created a very cool story, it's alot of fun to read. Christian is already one of my favorite narrators, and hazel isn't bad at all. Although every voice she uses sounds 'sexy' because she I rather monotone with it. It does get a bit annoying but it's still entertaining because it gets interrupted by Christians dialogue. Pretty decent

cant get past chapter 4

I really want to like this but the mc can't get his head around the fact that this is his new reality everything he has done has been as of he's a character starting a new rpg and it's so stupid if it wasn't for the plot making his decisions work somehow he would be dead twice over if your plot has to bend for the character to work as a person then its a bad character he also becomes a simp and tool for one of the women without realising like a idiot giving away all his knowledge for no other reason than she has boobs

Great story and well performed in the most part.

the one difficulty I have had with this is the inconsistent pronunciation of Alex's surname. this should surely have been picked up on quality check. I counted atleast 3 different pronunciations in the recording and it was irritating atleast for me, especially since it was so simple and issue that the author could have cleared up with a voice note.

interesting premise

Although it has potential it appears to be written in the form of a thirteen year olds wet dream. I also find the general flow slightly infuriating as it is fairly predictable post chapter seven. The over use of "handsome" is "luck laster" at best and i agree with a few of the reviews as the MC is ignorant and yet soo insightful it borders on two different people writing the same story. On a side note the male readers tooth whistle is headache inducing while there only seems to be three or so male and female voices. The readers could do with more practice though not terrible to listen to.
