A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Thriller Filled With Captivating Characters & Prepper Info.

The world is ending. But for the survivors, their ordeal has just begun…

Ruth Garber survived the sabotage of the Mako oil platform as the first wave of EMP attacks crippled the southern United States. Now, she’s stranded on the platform with a handful of people. And violent terrorists are closing in…

A desperate mission.

The EMP strikes keep coming as Ruth and the others leave the platform, embarking on a dangerous voyage across the sea. Their mission: to reach safety on an island and find a way to survive. But when they land on what seems to be a tropical paradise, they soon learn they are not alone. And all is not what it seems.

A world gone dark.

Meanwhile, Ruth’s brother, Ronny, may have discovered the key to stopping AILS, the shadowy organization behind the EMP strikes. Ruth and fisherman John decide to seek him out on the mainland, leaving her granddaughter Stella and the rest of the crew to prepare for an impending attack.

But as civilization decays around them, they quickly learn they’re not the only ones who are fighting to survive…

Non-Stop Action!

This is the second installment in the very entertaining EMP Sabotage Series. The story continues where the first book left off. There is a lot going on in this non-stop action story. The story is told from multipe POVs. The storyline is captivating, filled with intrigue, mystery, and twists and turns. Anna Maste did an amazing job bringing these characters, and this story to life. Looking forward to listening to No Escape, the next installment in the series. All the actiony goodness

I love the change of scenery she keeps up the action and the thrill as we read how our survivors try and live. She keeps us on our toes as our crew learns to trust others as well as this own judgments. Definitely recommend!.

Author, Story Excellent; Narrator Grating

This book is the perfect follow-up to book one of the series. That book set up the premise of the series and well showed how EMP affected a small group of people more intimately involved in it than most imagined. Right away in this book, we meet the mastermind of the EMP sabotage and her small crew of henchmen; we only glimpsed her the epilogue of the first book. So, this book follows that small group we got to know in the first book and the villains who caused the havoc. I enjoyed alternating between these two groups, especially as having insight into one often foreshadowed what would happen with the other.

I like how this book has a strong, older female lead who is right in the middle of all the action! We don’t see enough of that in fiction, and I wish we saw it more. Older characters of all genders can bring much to a story, enriching it because of life experience and other backstory … if authors build them out, as the author did in that story.

If you’ve read or listened to any of this author’s dystopian fiction, you will probably enjoy this book and this series. I’m not wild about the narrator of this series. She has the perfect voice for the older heroine, but her voice is actually aggravating for most other characters, especially the ones with strong accents. One for a southern US female character was particularly grating—nails-on-a-chalkboard moment for me every time. I’ll admit it took me longer to get through this book than most because, at a certain point, I didn’t feel like I could listen to her voice anymore! Not good for an audiobook.

4.5 rounded up to 5, minus because of the narrator and plus because of the author and story
