About this Series: Jump into a rebirth story that mixes LitRPG and GameLit Elements with Monster Evolution. Levels, Stats, Skills, Magic, Power Progression, Kingdom Building, Party Building, Army Building, evolution, a monster MC, gigantic enemies (compared to Ant at least), and plenty of humor fitting for such a ludicrous premise.

I wasn't expecting much out of this audiobook but I was pleasantly surprised. I saw it several times on facebook ads and im a sucker for something different. Im leaving my comments free of spoilers so something might be vague

Pro:
The cast of this book was fantastic both Jeff and Annie did a great job at really bringing the characters to life. I don't think this book would have been near as good without Jeff's ability to channel the main characters cheeky personality

While the story somewhat involves progression their is for sure personal character goals that give purpose to progression

Speaking of progression, the progression system is unique... like if this was a game I would want to play it for the mechanics alone

The story does a lot of foreshadowing of things to come. Im looking forward to seeing how the story progresses with some of the groups in the story that are only touched on.

Cons/Additional Thoughts:
I'm going to have to wait soooo... long for the second book

I'm hoping that we see more interaction between the various groups in the next book

Yay! for Ant-thony

my favorite book is boxy t morningwood and this book definitely took inspiration from it. Mc even starts replacing good with tasty as a Easter egg. this book was a lot of fun and I can't say any negative things about it. even the stats weren't that bad as it sometimes grounded the Mc or his pets

it's kinda like boxy t morning woods

First of all, I have to say that I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed this nearly as much without the absolute over-the-top great narration by Jeff, with a little help from Annie.
I passed a series by a bunch of times because I thought the concept sounded kind of dumb, and I read some of the negative reviews that spoke about a lack of personal development or backstory (as opposed to character development, which is literally most of what goes on here). Then, I found Jeff doing the cold read of book 4 on YouTube, and I ended up watching all three long episodes of that, and really found myself enjoying the book, not just the hilarious narration.
So I came right to Audible and dropped a credit on the first entry in the series.

And I am glad I did. While for the first half of this book I did agree with some of the reviews that said we didn’t hear enough about Anthony’s backstory or his Emotional development, and instead just got battles and progression and grinding and that sort of character development, by the time I got to the second half of the book it began to become clear why that was.
Because it turns out, what we don’t know if the beginning, is that he was a 15-year-old kid. And his home life was not anything that he would care to really remember. So it’s not very much of a surprise that he doesn’t ruminate on the life that he lost, or The family that he no longer has, or any of that: he didn’t really have that much to lose.
With that perspective in hand, the whole series makes a lot more sense to me, and I was able to enjoy it more once I recognize that.

Enough has been said about what the story contains, that I don’t really need to comment on that. It’s fun, it’s mostly lite, fast moving litRPG. If you enjoy that kind of stuff, this is worth a shot. And again I really can’t say enough about Jeff’s narration, he totally goes all out for this thing.

The book is pretty stats heavy, and I can’t say that I actually like the comment before every big stats section, that tells us we can press the skip forward button a few times. In later books this turns into: you can press the next chapter button. Jeff tries to change it up so that it sounds a little different each time, but generally I’m smart enough to figure that out and don’t need to be told that every chapter or every section. Just tell us that at the beginning like they do with the Jonathan Brooks Dungeon series, and leave us to our own devices. Literally our own devices, we don’t need to be told how to get past stats if we don’t wanna hear them, at least not more than once. It’s a little too… fourth wall breakie for me.
But enough about that. There is an interesting story here, and while there is a lot of giddy character growth, there is enough meaty plot to care about as well.

Recommended!

Crazy, comical, and creative!

I love litrpg’s! It my favorite genre of audiobooks but this one stands out for me. I like the different perspective this one gives. The idea of being reborn as an ant in a dungeon is very interesting. I also find the main character very likable and extremely funny. His inner monologue cracks me up so much and it’s nice that he’s not whining and crying about his situation. All in all so far this is the most fun audiobook I’ve listened to so I definitely recommend it!

So funny!

The idea of having a human soul inserted into a giant ant is definitely unique and fun. We take for granted the ability to communicate, yet without vocal cords or arms trying to deliver any sort of message is severely hampered. Thus, Anthony finds himself alone, confused, stuck in a giant ant body, and soon set upon by humans. As you might imagine, this doesn’t go well. This is one of the many adventures Anthony has as he copes with his new circumstances, eventually learning to thrive in his new form.
Jeff Hays is ALWAYS great. Annie Elicott appears a few times and also delivers her typical excellence.
This isn’t my favorite story, but it is definitely a series I will continue.

I cannot believe I just listened to a story about an ant. It was really entertaining. Very funny. I kept waiting on something stupid to happen so I could return it. That moment never came. I literally laughed out loud at the some parts. The voice actor was excellent as always. His little he he hes had me chuckling. Spend the credit for this one.

With A great story and A unique character this is one of the better book. but that doesn’t seem to be any character development.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. The world building and character development were amazingly done. The narration of course was amazing.

The world is shown to us a little at a time as the MC learns about it, which I like. The MC develops in a reasonable way and isn’t to OP, he does have moments of plot armor but they are very well done. The system is well fleshed out (pun intended) and isn’t too cumbersome to follow. Add to the fact they tell you how many skips to use if you don’t want the crunch.

The narrators are of course amazing, Jeff Hayes and Annie Ellicott are some of the greatest. Jeff channels some Princess Donut vibes with Anthony and I really enjoyed it.

Great new series
