Publisher's summary

A brand-new fairy tale retelling fantasy series from award-winning author Alexia Purdy for those who love magic, gothic fantasy, steampunk, and urban fantasy.

Against my family’s wishes, I’ve refused every suitor lined up for my hand at the annual coupling ball. How could I have known the government would be overthrown during the ball? Luckily, I’m rescued by a handsome stranger named Clyde.

Running from the enemy, we escape to the underground city known as the Glass Sky. My life is far from what I thought, as I discover I’m just a pawn in a delusional society. Secrets and lies show me the hard truth of a dying human race where females are scarce and controlled with an iron fist. I have to find my parents, but sneaking back home is a precarious trek. All I find is the city overrun and deep under the control of a ruthless ruler. Obsessive vendettas seal my fate, haunting me with my own defiance. Alone and defeated, an unlikely ally offers to help me, but at what cost?

The Storm Glass

Star doesn't want to get married she wants to be a engineer/mechanic like her dad, and she feels no husband would ever let her do that, she thinks she would have to be arm candy and a baby factory to any of her parents choices, but there is a lot of the world Star knows nothing about. She is about to get a crash course.

This was a great story with lots of twists and turns and full bore action until the end. The audio is narrated by a wonderful voice actor Kim Churchill who will have you thinking you are there with Star and her hero Clyde, pointing them in the right direction and letting Star know when she is doing dumb things, not that she will listen to you. I really can't wait for the next book, and I hope you won't be able to as well.

Fantastic story

Though there were parts it was difficult to differentiate the “voice” of the 2 main characters, the story was very entertaining. It has some mystery and some romance but my favorite aspect is the “steam punk” world they live in. The characters are well developed and easy to imagine. The story flows well and is easy to get lost in. Can’t wait for the next one to come out on audible! This series is so fun and I enjoyed it thoroughly! (The books are out on the kindle already)
