Publisher's summary

It's a dirty galaxy and someone has to clean it.

Avoiding the wealthy inhabitants on the upper levels of Station Kelly Kornienko is bot-programmer Triana’s number one rule. Well, number two, right after "eat all the chocolate".

But when one of her cleaning bots finds a dead body, all the rules go out the airlock. A highly connected security agent interrupts her routine with stories of missing bodies, and Triana can’t ignore him; it’s cooperate or find a new job. A girl has to pay the rent, even on a crappy studio compartment.

Working with a shiny detective beats a shuttle dirt-side, so Triana lends her programming skills to Agent O’Neill’s investigation. Together, they find more victims and evidence of a major cover-up.

It will take all of Triana’s technical talents, most of O’Neill’s connections, and some really excellent croissants to stop the murders, save her job, and ultimately, her life.

The Vacuum of Space is the first book in a completed series.

This book was previously published as Murder Is Messy.

Interesting

I was offered a free copy of the book and accidentally wound up with an audio version which I was charged for. Audible would not allow me to return it. I would rate this as a 3.5 but that's not possible on this platform, therefore it is rounded upwards.

This author is new to me. The description stated this was a humorous sci-fi mystery with some romance. I did chuckle a few times but would not categorize this as a humorous book.
I did enjoy the book and found the character to be quirky and smart.

I would listen/read another in this series.

Fun and easy listen

A very very welcome break from my usual choice of hard military sci-fi, really enjoyed this listen, good story and great voice acting

Surprisingly Good!

From time to time I preview Sci-Fi books something the niece might like. This is definitely aimed at the female part of the YA market--but it was very good as a near future sci-fi story as well. I stayed for the entire book and was glad I did.

Good Clean Fun

Cute and humorous. Could have used a bit more resolution and explanation for the main mystery, but overall a nice light read.

If you like chick flix....

The book seems aimed more at a female than male audience. The character has a large focus on male anatomy, which is not an interest of mine. But it was otherwise a fair story and performance.

Good story, terrible narrator

The story is fun. Not groundbreaking, but entertaining. The narrator, though, is terrible. Her voice is physically painful to listen to. So high pitched and lacking any depth at all. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. She is also sometimes hard to understand.

Just skip the Audible book and read the Kindle version with your eyes. Your ears will thank you for it.

Might have been a good book but the narrator......

This might have been a good story but I could not understand the narrator's accent. I plodded through hoping and hoping but nope. I only could understand every third or fourth word which made it really hard to follow.Willing to give the author another shot but the Irish accent (I think that's what it was) has got to go

A Harlequin Romance story pretending to be a SciFi.

Maybe if you are a teenage girl you might enjoy this book and whinny performance, but if your looking for real SciFi this is not your book.
