Publisher's Summary

Five years ago, the US Space Force became a reality. And while those writing the checks took things very seriously, the other military branches did not. As a result, Space Force was populated by undesirables: men and women who made too many mistakes, didn't follow the rules, or...slept with the wrong general's daughter. Three times. On camera. It was a mistake, okay?

My name is Captain Ethan Stone, a decorated member of SEAL Team Six turned Space Force "recruit". While the powers that be attempted to make Space Force an embarrassment, they also sent some of the very best minds, fighters, and pilots to the program, because sometimes the best of us decide to take a stand against those same powers. Yeah, yeah. Not me. Though I seem to recall I was standing when...sorry. It's a distracting memory.

Flash forward five years and between tenses. President West is in office. Power has shifted. And Space Force is defunded. With just a handful of us still living on base, we find ourselves being evicted. But before all of us can leave, aliens invade. Really ugly ones, too. Super nasty. I don't think I could describe them here without getting the audiobook banned.

Anywho, using their advanced technology, they seal off Space Force Command behind a shrinking force field and kick off a battle royale to the death. Human vs. alien. To the victors goes the Earth. While my boy Frank Taylor and I throw down inside the force field, my main squeeze, First Lieutenant Jennifer Hale, leads an international strike team into freakin' space. It's nuts. Crazy action. Super funny, too, in like a Deadpool way, if that's your thing.

The only way to really know what went down is to snag a copy of this audiobook and listen to it for yourself...before it's too late. Or wait for the movie. There is going to be a movie, right?

Hale and I agreed to let "best-selling"* author Jeremy Robinson tell our tales. He's not my favorite person in the world, but I think he captured our voices and the reality of what happened, printing every word we spoke, no matter how offensive, blunt, disgusting, or violent it was. If you're upset by what you hear in this audiobook, first, lighten up, but then blame me. Jeremy Robinson is a fragile flower. He's only to blame for hackneyed writing.

*Best-selling is in quotes because the only best seller status that matters is New York Times. Doesn't matter if it's not a true reflection of actual sales, popularity, or quality. Everyone knows that, Robinson.

It's Like The Army or Navy But For Space

From the opening dialogue, which made me spit out my drink laughing, I was hooked. Captain Ethan Stone is hilarious. He is like Deadpool, Captain Kirk, and Leroy Jenkins rolled into one. And Ivan, the Russian Spetsnaz, story of how his parents died made laugh uncontrollably. There is so much humor and inside jokes packed into this book. The story is awesome. It is about the Space Force, yes that one. It is the laughing stock of the world. It may be pointless, best of the worst, and completely failing at everything but Space Force is the only thing (not by choice) that is going to save us from aliens. The Aliens, named the Chote (Google it), have invaded Earth and have been influenced by the way they see us battle (online). FPS Battle royal is game and Space Force is chosen to play. This book ranks in the top of audio books I have listened to in the last year. It is Awesome.

Easy listen, funny and entertaining

Funny and entertaining. A clever story mix of sci-fi humor with gaming and alien arrival. A group of charismatic characters will keep you entertained with enough reference to modern games to keep you extra engaged. It is a fun listen and I really enjoyed the story.

I really tried to like it

The description made it seem like it would be a fun, hilarious action sci-fi, but in reality it's just juvenile humor with poor story telling. half of the book is filler and the other half is horribly forced pop culture references. The alien invaders speak using gaming lingo and the entire battle plan is based off battle royale games. Which would be fine if it was done cleverly. What infuriates me most is that I know Jeremy Robinson is a good writer because I really enjoyed Infinite. If you aren't a fan of poorly used crude jokes, bad story telling, and a stupid amount of poop and penis jokes (Seriously it's the entire book, non-stop), then this book is not for you.

Ridiculously Funny!

This story is all about laughs, action, irony, and more laughs! Imagine the world is being attacked by gamers from another planet, who look like male genitalia, and behave like Minions. There is no way that won’t be funny to anyone who maintains a shred of youth. However, if you somehow lost touch with your teen self, have a stick unfortunately implanted, or were born without a funny bone, stick to listening to James Joyce or the Bronte sisters.

Jeffrey Kafer delivers another solid performance, as we have come to expect. The real news is the performance of Emily Woo Zeller! She did an outstanding job, and really stole the show with her character voices and humorous delivery. The surprise appearance of Jeremy Robinson was a great touch too.

Hysterical and a must for any gamers

Robinson has knocked it out of the park with this one. Although this sounds political it's absolutely NOT. It's just a lot of gaming derived fun with a Space Force backdrop.

It's jam packed with pop culture and video game references from the last 30 years. Anyone who has ever played a Battle Royale game like Fortnite, PUBG and Ring of Elysium will feel instantly at home here. In fact, it's all of the hysterical situations you have ever been in while playing reenacted in glorious Technicolour.

This is not a book for kids though, this is a mature story with mature humour. Not offensive, just really gross... That alien shower scene... again, eeew.

Massive credit goes to the narration team of Jeffrey Kafer, Emily Woo Zeller and Machelle Williams. Stick around for the credits and interview at the end.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW

I have never written a review for an Audible book. I have dozens and dozens (like a real lot) of Audible books. Never have I been moved to write a review, good or bad. I am sitting in my truck, in a Casey’s gas station parking lot, eating lunch as I finished the last 10 minutes of Space Force.
This book had me laughing out loud, for 9 plus hours. I’m not a gamer, but I’m 45 years old and the pop culture references were hilarious. The last ten minutes of the book was amazing.
Buy this book. Not for a serious, thought-provoking story line, well-developed characters or any of the myriad reasons we usually choose titles. Buy it for its sheer genius.

Ha! Fabulous!

This was my first Jeremy Robinson book and I was hoping to like it - because of the positive reviews, I took a gamble (after two other disappointing forays into new author territory).
I’m so glad I gave Space Force a chance. I heartily enjoyed it.
I loved the banter - very funny - and breaking the fourth wall....and how the author pokes fun at himself in the dialogue. This book kept my attention due purely to the entertainment factor. It’s a light read yet packed with action. I thought the premise was fresh and, as mom of several teens, I could really enjoy the gaming acronyms (like “AFK”, etc.) to which they often referred.
If you’re looking for a light, fun, and entertaining read - I definitely recommend this book!

A crude, and hilarious take on alien invasions

This is a hilarious take on the standard alien invade earth story, but featuring the members (or what are left of them) of our president's SPACE FORCE. The send up is humourous with lots of obvious, and sometimes not so obvious references to our current political climate. While the story will never be Nebula award winning, it is short, entertaining, and provides more than the occasional laugh. Do you like SciFi in the vein of "Will Save the Galaxy for Food"? Like rapid fire pop culture references? Have you ever gamed? If so, then this story is the perfect palate cleanser between what seems to be the never ending epic mutli-volume series being pumped out today.

The narration, especially Jeffrey Kafer as Cpt. Stone makes this romp enjoyable. He posses just the right amount of sarcastic over-the-top swagger needed for a story in this genre. The other cast does an admirable job as well.

I found this book really funny, I wouldn’t say it’s super serious, but a fantastic listen. The narrators did a great job of bringing the book to life.

Don’t normally do this...

It’s very rare that I actually write a review. Normally I just rate them and that’s it.

Jeremy Robinson has nailed this book. I’ve not listened to anything else he has done, this came as a recommendation from Jeffery Kafer via his Facebook page. Yeah I know he’s one of the brilliant narrators for this book but when they say how much fun it was and how enjoyable the book was to record, then you know it’s worth the credit!

It really is a great listen, the humour is fantastic and well placed. The disabled toilet part is awesomely funny as I can relate to it.

Enough of me writing, just buy this book, you won’t regret it.
