The status readouts do not work in audio format, it's maddening, There are so many long status readouts, one after the other and right in the middle of things I can barely follow the book.

Aside from that, the story has satisfying progression and an interesting system. The characters and interactions feel mostly believable and human. It's okay, I want this book to be better than it is. It has a lot going for it but it never really delivers, maybe it's the format, idk.

Not Like Defiance of the Fall

I nearly skipped this series because of the reviews that said it was a bad version of Defiance if the Fall which I really enjoyed.

This series has little in common with Defiance and those comparing the two seem either haven’t read this series or are really bad at reading comprehension and comparison,

The one thing the series has in common is a MC that starts out in a high level area and grows fast and is powerful because of that but that’s about it and that same plot is used in several LitRPG series like System Apocalypse, Ether Collapse, Player Reaches the Top, etc.

The system of magic is different with this series having a path system. Potion Making is different. The entire world and system is different. The way newbie areas and towns work is different. Supporting characters are vastly different.

I don’t even understand the comparison between the series, I like both and this series has been enjoyable to read as the characters progress and overcome challenges. Don’t let the bad reviews comparing the two unfavorably deter you. You can enjoy both series as fun progression stories that have a really strong MC.

great book- waited too long to read it

I skipped over this book several times due to the silly sounding name and the animated cover. It gave me YA vibes, and I like more serious stuff.
I wish I hadn't waited so long, an excellent story, a unique take on worldbuilding, and an engaging mc. definately recommend.

Straightforward enough to satisfy and clever enough to engage.

I get tired of the litrpg that turns into a civ game. This is about the rpg part which I love. The main character is deep enough to seem realish but not so real that it’s mcu melodrama.

The author accurately describes what would probably happen if the world suddenly became part of a system. I look forward to the other books in the series!
