Love can be hell.

I’m Faline Delamore. I’m the best demon hunter there is, but slaying monsters from the underworld for a living makes me feel trapped. My father trained me to be an assassin from birth, and he expects perfection. As a Nephilim, my life is consumed by battles and hellfire.

I’m headed off to college to get a break from all the slaying, until I run into a sexy guy that’s just as hot as he is dangerous. Thames Deacon is tall, dark, and full of secrets. Despite his warnings to stay away, I can’t keep my distance. Something about him is just… bad. And after a lifetime of being good, I want to see what it's like to play with fire.

But I have to keep my guard up, because there's a traitor hiding in the shadows. Students are being hunted by demons, and there are more supernatural beings on campus than I expected. What's more, I discover that I have a sister I've never known... and Thames is connected to her complicated past. Thames wants me to stay away from him, to keep myself safe, but I can't seem to leave his side. If I fall in love, I might end up dead... Even if Thames ends up being my salvation.

I really liked the story itself, I like how the story continued from the first book. I must say I wished it was a little longer but it was still a really good listen. I was not a huge fan of narration. It was so different from the first book... it took me a while to get into it. I did get used to it by the end but wasn’t my favorite if I’m being honest. I can’t wait to hear the conclusion to the series and see what will happen next!!

I really liked this book!

Torture (Angels & Demons Book 2) ~~ Book 2 takes things in a totally different direction — in the best way. This time, the spotlight shifts to Thames and Faline at university, and their dynamic adds a whole new layer of tension to the series. Faline bursts into the story like a storm, and finds out she’s Cassia’s sister? That was the twist that sent everything spinning. She’s tied to Cassia through the angel-and-demon mess in ways nobody expected, and her presence shakes up every relationship Cassia has.
Thames really shines here. You get to see him outside the chaos of Book 1 ~ who he is when Cassia isn’t right beside him. But at the same time, everything he does is still tied to protecting Cassia, helping her, and understanding the truth behind her bloodline. And Faline? She’s not the soft, sweet, “welcome to the family” kind of sibling. She arrives with baggage, secrets, and an attitude that puts her right in the center of the drama.
This book digs deeper into the politics of the supernatural world, and some of these angels and demons seriously need to get their lives together. The betrayals hit fast — and one of the reveals about Faline had me staring at the page like, “Oh, absolutely not.” There’s also a rescue scene that had my heart in my throat because it changes the entire direction of the story going into Book 3.
By the final chapter, everything between Cassia, Cairo, Thames, and Faline is raw, messy, and on the verge of exploding. That’s exactly what keeps me turning the pages.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.
